"Is there a reason why you are interrupting my date preparations?" Quinn complained to her sister as Quinn got herself ready for another date.
"First, if another rumor about me and sex is started anytime during the rest of my final semester then I shall bring forth wrath that none of your fashion obsessed friends have ever seen," she began.
"Noted," Quinnreplied, knowing that Daria probably wouldn't stand for another rumor about her having sex with Tom, or anyone else.
"You dated enough guys, do they all eventually expect to have sex with you?"
"Guys are physical creatures, so they think about sex almost all the time, Daria, " Quinn replied. "However, I've had sex with none of the guys I've dated."
"So Tom..."
"He's probably just below the average, but if he actually talked about having sex with you then he isn't gay," Quinn let out.
"And carrying around a pink condom..."
"Pink ...condom?" Quinn snickered and then started laughing her head off. "You just had to pick a guy that carries around a pink condom..." she continued to laugh.
"I think he might have picked it up as some sort of sick joke when he was dating Jane."
"you and him certainly have the same sense of sick humor. Let me guess, that rumor made the two of you actually talk about having sex?"
"We did, but I was too scared to even go to that next step with him."
"You are so timid. What were you scared of?"
"Disapointing him to the point where he would break up with me."
"Now that would be shallow. He's not an idiot so he knows that you haven't slept with anyone, unless, did you do anything with your friend's brother?"
"What? No!" Daria answered, blushing from having to answer that question.
"Hmmmm, and you were too timid to tell him how you felt, but you weren't too timid to kiss Tom while he was still with your friend. You are so weird, Daria."
Daria analyzed Quinn's last statement. It made no sense to her now that she thought about it. If she were a willing participant in that kiss she shared with Tom, then why would she be so shy about telling Trent how she had felt about him? Was it the fear of rejection?
"You are going to get rejected, you just have to learn how you are going to deal with it."
"You don't get rejected that often though."
"True, but the one that I'm dating now didn't want to date me at first," Quinn began but was stopped by the sound of her father's voice shouting from downstairs. Daria followed her sister to the top of the stairs. The boy she saw made her arch an eyebrow.
'That must be Caleb. I guess Mac wasn't exaggerating about his size,' Daria thought and returned to her room.
'He was unreliable, but did it have to take a stupid school assignment for her to find that out? Or was that the best way for her to find out to keep her from any sort of emotional pain. She closed her eyes. Had she dated Trent she might not have gotten into that car with Tom. If she and Tom didn't go any further, and that looked possible, then she would try something with Trent before she went off to college. She needed to get that out of her system and if she were truthful with herself, she would find that she still had a flame for him, even if it was dimmed a little.
