Reviewer responses

Nathanal Wilkes: Yep, he was the heir to the throne of the kingdom of jerks. Thanks for the smut encouragement. Some might think that smut is easy to write, but it isn't.

Anon reviewer: Thank you. I hope you've read my other Daria fics. Yeah, people aren't writing Daria fics much on FF.net. Outpost Daria isn't updating anymore. At times I seem to be carrying the Trent/Daria shippers on my own.

He didn't care what time he was getting back. He was used to late nights. Although, he had to be extra quiet do to the fact that it wasn't his house he was sneaking back into. Hopefully, Mrs. Morgandorffer wouldn't give him the third degree for coming in so late. He rubs his eyes as he silently makes his way up the stairs. Spending four hours breaking up with someone was taxing, but it was more so for a narcoleptic such as Trent Lane. With an emotional drain, along with the physical one he doesn't go into the correct bedroom. Not seeing the lump laying on the bed under the covers, Trent sits on the side and quietly removes his shoes and socks.
'Mmmmm, bed's more comfortable than I thought.' he thinks before he falls into unconsciousness.

'Oh, this is just too good!' Jane celebrates in her mind. 'If I know his track record with Monique, they probably had a fight last night and he's single again. Now, do I hide and watch the hijinks ensue, or run interference for Daria so her parents don't find them like this? Better keep the parental units busy. Damn, another opportunity missed because I don't have my video camera.' She quietly leaves the room. An hour later, one of the lumps in the bed starts stirring. The small hand reaches over to grab her glasses laying on the night stand. Daria puts them on and blushes seeing the lump laying under the covers beside her.
'Great, could this situation get weirder? Yes, if Jane and Trent stay any longer. Now, the question I need an answer for is how to wake him up?' Daria says looking at the sleeping Trent. 'Where the hell is my so-called friend when I need to kill her?' She notices that Jane wasn't in the room. She sighs and turns to the task at hand. "Hey, wake up." she says shaking the sleeping musician. "Trent!"
"I swear officer, she's eighteen," Trent says before his mind and body come out of whatever he was dreaming about and his eyes open to the fact that he had picked the wrong room to sleep in. "Oh shit,"
"Late night?" Daria asks.
"Spent four hours breaking up with Monique. I must be some sort of a masochist if I stupidly keep going back to her."
"Well, if you're into whips and chains then you might be a masochist, otherwise, she just knows how to get you back into her web."
"No more, I'm not going back to that again. Sorry I slept in your room, in your bed."
"No harm done. Just let's keep it between us, and Jane."
"Jane?" he asks looking around for his sister. "She didn't wake me up?"
"If you know how to dispose of a body we can get rid of the only other witness."
"Yeah, there's a rock quarry near the county line." Daria arches an eyebrow wondering why Trent would know that.
"Hey you two," Jane says with her head the only thing sticking out from behind the door and her eyes shut, "you two decent?" Trent glares at his little sister and gets up.
"You do have a death wish, don't you Lane?" Daria asks.

"It was cool staying at your place, except for your mother trying to ground me." Trent says as he heads back for the Lane compound.
"Sorry about that. What will you do with that extra time now that you and Monique are through permanently?"
"Don't know...,I'd take you out...," he begins to say and starts a fit of coughing laughter until he gets it under control, "...,but your mother hates me." Daria bites her lip.
"My mother seems to only get involved when the office isn't distracting her. You seemed to have won my father over, though."
"Yeah." he says remembering Mr. Morgandorffer's cooking. His home cooking was better than the nothing Trent got at home.
"What's so funny about taking me out?" she asks evenly. Trent gets the deer in the headlights look.
"I said that?" he asks scratching the back of his head.
"Yes, you did." Trent sighs and shakes his head.
"You do realize...,I've got certain...,'flaws'...,that Janie likes to point out."
"You seem to be able to put up with mine." she replies.
"Even my need to nap the day away along with my bad sense of time?"
"Why do you think you sleep so much?"
"Hmmm, I guess the Spiral is taking more out of me than I thought. I'm doing all of the creative work along with playing peace maker between Nick and Max."
"Then I can't see a problem with us at least trying something. If it looks like it won't work, then we break it off."
"Hmmmm, and your mother?"
"Let me deal with her. I've spent seventeen years of my life under her roof."
"Seventeen?"
"Yep."
"How come Janie never told me about you having your seventeenth birthday?"
"I...,threatened her with death if she told you." Daria says blushing.
"Not use to the whole idea of liking a guy are you?" he teases.
"No. I'm afraid I'll turn into my sister if this keeps up."
"Nah, you're too cool to end up like your sister." he replies putting an arm around her. If you're willing to put up with me, then I think we can try." Daria smiles at his response. Neither of them noticed that Jane was watching them.
'Finally! Those two were driving me crazy.'

'What am I doing? I'm digging under my boyfriend's bed looking for his song book. Why am I looking for his song book? because he, my best friend and the rest of Mystik Spiral are in jail.' Daria thinks and then fishes out a notebook. She finds the money and then gets a thoughtful look on her face. 'It won't hurt to have a look.' She reads over some lyrics and grimmest. 'O'Neil didn't teach you well, did he?'
"Trent! Where you sleeping!" a male voice calls from downstairs.
'Great, who could that be?'
"Trent...,oh, where's Trent?" a guy with very dark brown hair and amber eyes says standing in the doorway.
"Unfortunately, he along with the rest of Mystic Spiral are in the correctional facilities in Fremont." Daria replies.
"Great, what stupid thing did they do?"
"Traffic violation." Daria replies somewhat surprised that the boy was keeping up with her.
"Daric Lynn, first bassist and the future legal department of the Spiral."
"Daria Morgandorffer, Jane's friend and Trent's...," she trails off trying not to blush.
"Ah, say no more." Daric smirks. Then he starts speaking in German.
"Aren't you too smart to be in a grunge rock band?" she asks in German.
"Ah, so you do speak the mother language." Daric says switching back to English.
"Care to join me in this perilous journey?" she asks in Cantonese. Daric bites his lip. He was a little rusty with his Cantonese.
"Let's go save our comrades from prison." he replies in Mandarin. The two quickly exit the house. "Angel. We've got to bust them out of jail in Fremont."
"Then why are we standing here doing nothing?" Angel asks and gets into the shotgun seat.
"Nice car. Uh oh," Daria says seeing Quinn coming.
"And just where are you going in such a cool car?" Quinn asks.
"I'm going to bail them out." Daria replies.
"Then I'm coming too."
"And just why are you coming?" Daria asks frustrated.
"Because something cool might happen." Quinn replies.
"Relative of yours?" Daric asks.
"Unfortunately." Daria says getting into the back seat.
"I think," Daric says pulling out on to the road and turning on his radar detector, "that we need to go to 'Ludicrous Speed'(1)."
"Ludicrous speed...,go.(2)" Daria retorts.
"What are you two...,ahhh!" Quinn shouts as Daric punches the accelerator. Metallica's version of 'Remember Tomorrow(3) blares through the speakers.
"Speed kills, so I hope the angel of death takes you first." Angel states looking at Quinn.
"I'm not familiar with this track." Daria states.
"It's an Iron Maiden cover." Daric states.

"Thanks for coming after us." Trent says as the two lay together on his bed.
"Just don't get yourself jailed every time you go outside of Lawndale." Daria replies. "I might not be able to bail you out."
"Don't worry, Daric will keep us out of prison."
"He doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the band."
"His style might be heavier than what I'd like in a bass player, but it seems to work."
"Usually a year has to pass before the girlfriend has to bail out her musician boyfriend." Trent laughs and starts coughing again. "I don't understand how Daric can drive like he does." she continues after Trent catches his breath.
"You can't be too timid on the road. You've gotta find that balance of aggression and cautiousness."
"He seems to be more aggressive than cautious."
"Daric drives better at high rates of speed."
"He's got to be worried about those eighteen wheelers."
"Nah, he doesn't let big trucks intimidate him." Trent replies now knowing why the conversation had turned to driving. He'd have to help her with that.

"Daric, I'm glad your back man." Max explains as the band is in the middle of a break before their second set. "Nick sucked. when I'm going foom-foom-foom-foom, what damn good would it do for him to go badda-dah, badda-dah, badda-dah, blat?" Daric rolls his eyes. "Then the moron would probably say something like 'It's not blat, Max- it's blam'." Max continues mocking Nick. "Hey Angel, isn't that a new board you've got?"
"Yes, it's a Korg Triton Extreme(4)." she answers as she sits in Daric's lap.
"Woe, I knew that thing looked expensive, but isn't that sort of pricey?" Trent asks.
"We played at clubs near the college we went to." Daric explains. "Earned enough to upgrade our instruments."
"Why that one?" Trent asks Angel.
"My favorite keyboardist uses it." she answers.
"She's a bigger DragonForce fan than I am." Daric adds.
"Metal heads." Jessie states. Trent spots Daria heading over and decides to intercept instead of listening to Jessie and Daric debate about which genre of rock is better.
"Hey, what did you and Janie need to ask me? Wait, where is Janie?"
"Took off with some guy she just met."
"She can take care of herself."
"We've got a multimedia project for O'Neil's class. I...,that is me and Jane, wondered if...,"
"You want to do a year in the life of an up and coming...,"
"Hold on there." Daria says squeezing his elbow to get him to stop the tangent he was on. "We've only got two weeks. We could use thirty seconds of music though."
"You're not going to like my answer to that."
"Has your muse run away?"
"Yeah. Too much retooling everything I've written for Daric's bass."
"I'll put up lost and found posters then."
"Sorry I can't help."
"It's alright, I think Jane's still yentaing even after the fact. She doesn't know what to do with all that extra energy."
"That's probably why she took off with that guy she met. You staying for the second set?"
"Not with hawk eye Morgandorffer watching her daughter closer than normal."
"Uh oh, is your mother suspicious about...,"
"No, she just thinks I'm going to hang with Jane every time I leave the house. My plan of keeping us a secret hasn't been compromised."
"Need a ride?"
"Yeah."
"Hey Trent! Can we do 'One'(5) in the second set?!" Max shouts.
"You think you remember the drum part?!" Trent calls back.
"Are you kidding?!" Max retorts.
"Alright. I'm taking Daria home!" Trent says and the couple leaves.

She quietly opens the door. She smiles seeing him sprawled out on his bed. She sits on the end of the bed and removes her boots. She lays beside him waiting for him to wake up. His eyes slowly open and he grins.
"Hey Daria."
"Hey."
"Having trouble sharing Janie?"
"You could say that."
"Just remember, she'll always be your friend no matter how many guys distract her. Besides, it gives us more time to spend together."
"Well, there's that."
"It was weird...,I walked into Janie's room yesterday and instead of you, there was a cheerleader."
"Brittany didn't flirt with you did she?"
"Nah, I got the heck out of there before she noticed me." Trent replies and pulls her close to him.
"I'm starting to pick up some of your habits." Daria begins and Trent arches an eyebrow. "I'm wanting to sleep more instead of reading when I'm in my room."
"Mmmmm, with a bed like yours I'd do more sleeping myself."
"I thought you were getting over your narcolepsy."
"It's getting better, but with all the practicing we've been doing and the return of my muse, I've been sleeping more again."
"I guest those lost and found posters worked."
"Yeah." he replies with a smile.
"I'm going to have to apologize to her aren't I?"
"Yeah, but Janie's got to realize that she's got a friend who hasn't had a friend before. She's got to manage her time better."
"Yeah, unlike her brother." she quips and Trent laughs.
"You don't think Jane'll want to double date do you?"
"I hope not." she says somewhat annoyed.
"Don't worry, something will happen and she'll run back into Jessie's arms." Trent and Daria continue to lay and enjoy the other's company.

"I'm ending this part right here. Man, Atropa is better with this collection of one-shots. Hell, he puts smut in every part. Well, next up is 'Mart of Darkness'. Keep those reviews coming.
