This actually takes place between 412 and 413, but it mostly deals with 413's events.

She laid, on her side, on her bed, her eyes closed as she tried to fight off the emotional turmoil that she was feeling. The words that Trent had told her just a handful of days ago was still echoing in her mind. Tears pricked at her eyes, but the auburn refused to cry. She turned onto her stomach and let the salty liquid coat her pillow.

"Have you taken a loss of your senses or have you confused me with my sister?" Daria reacted to Jane's request to dye Jane's hair.

"Hey, there shouldn't be a reason why you wouldn't want to help me, right?"

Daria scowled at her, "Let's see, I can't dye hair, for one thing. If I mess you you get pissed and we fight for the next month."

"Oh c'mon, it can't be that hard. Besides, what's the real reason why you won't help me in my endeavor?"

Daria's grey eyes blazed in rage. "Fucking hell," she growled. Jane took a step back, never having heard Daria swear like her father. "This shit is about keeping your boyfriend, isn't it? Why waist the damn time? If it wasn't going to last why get involved in the first fucking place!"

Now Jane took two steps back, the shock on her face evident that she clearly hadn't expected this strong of an reaction from her friend.

"Why the hell would you want to get into a relationship that you should have known wouldn't work? I might have waisted emotional energy on Trent but at least I didn't get into something that I believed wouldn't work!" she shouted and tried to storm off, but Jane followed.

"You still like him?"

"I'm over him, Lane," Daria growled and slammed opened the front door, Jane right on her heels.

"Doesn't sound like it to me."

"It can't work Lane, and if you feel like you have to change your appearance to keep Tom then you waisted your fucking time as well!"

Jane stopped and bit her lip. This allowed Daria to get far enough ahead so she wouldn't have to hear her friend. She put a hand to her forehead. Daria felt like she waisted herself on liking Trent. This told Jane that Daria couldn't like a guy that easily, but hadn't she spent time with Tom? Of course, she had messed up the meeting place and it had been Tom to suggest that they go for pizza that first night Daria stayed over so she didn't have to share a hotel room. She turned and headed into the house. Trent needed to do something. Her friend was hurting and she was going to fix it.

"Fucking attention whores," Daria said quietly, hearing the fashion club right in the middle of their blush-a-thon. She tried to go up the stairs with out being spotted, but Sandi, who knew when something was trying to get passed her due to the fact that she had sneaky little bratty brothers, caught sight of Daria.

"Doesn't she have a home to go to beside this one?" Sandi spoke out.

Daria turned and glared at Sandi. "You are a pitiable creature."

"Huh?"

"You must be quite emotionally strong to want to waist so much time on so many boys, or, you have no emotions at all and can't actually like someone. Which means that you are even more cold blooded than my sister is when it comes to relationships with guys. You two would be quite stupid to continue to follow these two reptiles, you don't want to be cold blooded creatures that can't love at all," Daria said, directing her last remarks to Stacy and Tiffany. With jaws on the floor from all the members of the club of fashion, Daria went upstairs and into her room.

She leaned her forehead against the cold metal of the locker. She saw, out of the corner of her eye, Jane coming her way. She made no attempt to move or to say anything in greeting.

"You need to talk to him," Jane began.

"Who?"

"Trent. You can't let this continue."

"Quit yentaing," Daria replied, her temper coming back to the surface.

"Look, I understand that you don't like guys as easily as I do..."

"No I don't. If I did I would feel like Quinn and I never want to be anything like her."

"Ah-ha! There's the root of this problem. Quinn's given you a very slanted perspective about dating, and I, being an artist, know everything about perspective."

"And I guess you are going to try and 'fix' my view?"

"Nope."

"No?"

"Nope. Quinn's damage can't be fixed, but I can fix the damage I did."

"You did?"

"Yep. That was a stupid move of mine...I thought that if I got him on this school project you two would spend more time together, but I didn't take into account that Trent hates anything to do with this place now. O'Neil taught him poetry and look how well that has worked out."

Daria winced, remember reading his lyric notebook and reading what he had wrote.

"Now, you two are going to sit up in his room and have a nice, long talk."

"We are?" Daria asked, arching a eyebrow.

"Yes, and you will clear the air, once and for all."

Daria sighed. She couldn't say 'no' to this.

Tom waited outside the Morgendorffers' home. Where was Daria? Then, he spotted her. As she came closer, Tom saw what appeared to be a smirk on her face.

"Hey Daria," Tom called out to her.

"Wrong house, you want to go that way and make..."

"I want to talk to you about Jane," Tom stopped her from making her smart remark.

"I think you should go talk to Jane about Jane. I'm not going to help in your relationship since I have no experience in that department, well, at least, not yet anyway," she said, her smirked returning and she headed up the driveway.

"Uh..."

"I had a long chat with Trent. We're going to try and date, and I like my prospects," she said and went inside to the shock and dismay of Tom.
