"We have to share!" both Daria and Quinn said after they had been shown their room.
"Yes, you do," Helen said from behind the two. She had heard their complaint and decided that she was going to have to lay the law down in order to get them to at least behave while they were staying at this hotel.
"Mmmmmooooooom! I can't share a room with her! I'll be having fashion club meetings here!" Quinn complained.
"You and your little friends need to quit being so judgmental of your sister," Helen retorted.
"Like I want to be in a room with those that only think about how they look," Daria growled.
"And you," Helen said now turning to her eldest, "if you weren't so scared about dressing more normally and worried about boys gawking at you then maybe they could meet you half way."
"Scared? Excuse me?" Daria replied now highly annoyed.
"You heard me, scared. "You can't defend yourself that well if a guy imposes himself on you, so, you go out of your way to not look attractive because I think that you think that you can't scare them off with your winning personality," Helen bit back. "At least your aunt would wear a one piece whenever she was on a beach...you'd probably still wear that same outfit no matter where you were because you know that you can't handle boys like your sister. Now, I don't care how much you two complain, bicker, fight, or whatever else you'll do to each other for the next two weeks, neither of you are staying somewhere else. And Daria, if I find out you've staying at Jane's for even one night, you'll be grounded for the rest of the semester, do you understand me young lady?" Helen barked. Daria's response was to look down at her feet with a defeated expression on her face. Seeing that no further arguments were coming, Helen left. Quinn watched her sister sit on one of the beds with an expression that Quinn had never seen on Daria's face.
"Just consider me the invisible woman, Quinn, I won't say anything while your friends are here," she finally said in a quiet voice.
"Daria..." Quinn began, not fully understanding why Daria was acting in such a manner. 'Did mom's words actually hurt her?'

Jane had been trying to confront her friend about the message Daria had left on tom's machine, but two things were preventing her from doing that. The first was the fact that Daria was avoiding her, along with everyone else in the school. The second, and only Jane had noticed it, Daria was upset. Jane was able to tell with the lack of sarcastic responses during class. Forgetting her drama with Tom, Jane knew where Daria probably was, the only place in the school where one could get privacy, the roof.
Jane came to the roof to see her friend looking down upon the school from the edge.
"Daria?" Jane questioned.
"Not now, Jane. I...I can't tell you, not yet."
"What...?"
"I'm not ready, not yet."
"Uhhh..."
"I'm fine. throwing myself off this roof will just give Li another excuse to turn this forsaken school into more of a prison."
Jane sighed. There was only one person in this damn school that could help her now.

"Eeep!" Quinn let out after being dragged into the girls' bathroom by Jane. Jane kicked the door stop and the door slammed shut.
"Ok princess polyester, what the hell is wrong with Daria?" Jane growled.
"Well, dad set fire to the house so we had to stay in a hotel. When we found out that Daria and me had to share a room, we were about to complain about it until mom barged in and told both Daria and me off. I've been told off before, but Daria took it harder than I did." Quinn quickly explained.
"And you don't remember what your mother said?" Jane asked.
"Well, she did say something to the effect that Daria might actually be scared of boys..." Quinn said and continued thinking. "She said that Daria wanted to hide her looks because mom thought that Daria thought that Daria couldn't scare boys off with her personality if she were wearing clothes that I'd wear."
"Damn, ok, get out of here," Jane said and Quinn left the bathroom. 'Damn, how the hell am I supposed to deal with both my problems with Tom and now my best friend's problems? Damn, why didn't those two get together?" Jane thought, referring to her brother and Daria.

Sighing after finishing her homework, Daria packed up her things and slowly headed out of the Pizza King. Her thoughts and emotions were a jumbled mess. She didn't notice a familiar car park itself, nor did she see Trent spot her. With her head down, she headed back for the hotel. She only got a couple blocks down the street before she felt a hand gentle grabbed her shoulder. Knowing that the grip wasn't one of someone that was going to mug her, she turned her head to see Trent looking concerned.
"Daria?"
She bit her lip. For most of the week, she'd been trying to contain the hurt she was feeling from her mother's words. Now, however, she was having trouble holding it in. Then, the dam broke and she threw herself against her. Trent could hear the quiet sobbing and sniffling the auburn haired girl was letting out.
Trent was at a loss of what to do. He'd never seen her show so much emotion before. He didn't know whether or not to let her get it all out or try to stop her. Figuring she'd needed to let it out, he held her and let her get those bad emotions out of her system.
"Ok?" he asked after a minute of no sound from her.
"Sorry."
"It's ok, that ain't the first time a girl's had to cry on me," Trent replied with a smile.
"My mother and I had a blow out almost a week ago. She said some things that hurt me and have made me question the way I behave and act around others."
"Hey, don't let her change you. That's why you're so cool. You don't take shit from anyone and you speak you're mind. You don't feel like you have to dress like your sister to get anyone's attention, nor do you have to follow the herd," he said.
"Thanks," she said while looking up at him from his chest gratefully.
"No problem," he said and kissed her. Within those five seconds that their lips were together, she didn't cared about anything else in the world. She sighed contentedly as she rested her head against his shoulder.
