Trent stood there, looking at the spot where Jane had last occupied. Why the hell was she doing dressing like that. He heard footsteps behind him and he turned to see Daria. He was glad not to see her dressed like he had just seen his sister.

"What the hell was that?" Trent asked.

"You weren't dreaming, you did see Jane leave this house wearing that outfit." Daria replied. "It's part of some damn assignment O'Neil gave us. We're supposed to pick something to fail at."

"That's a pretty damned stupid assignment. What's Jane trying to fail at?"

"To be conventional." Daria answered.

"He needs to be fired. in fact, most of those teachers need to be fired. Li needs to be ran out of this state on a rail." Trent said with some contempt. He calms down and asks, "So, what are you stuck with failing?"

"I tried to get my sister grounded so she couldn't go to that damn fashion sale, but I got stuck babysitting her anyway." Daria lamented. "I guess I should be used to wasting time." she quietly.

"Huh?"

"Nothing." she quickly replied realizing that she had said that last bit just loud enough to catch Trent's attention, but the frustration she was feeling needed an outlet so she went for it. "I said that I should be used to wasting time."

"What...?"

"I wasted so much time and emotional energy on a crush that didn't go anywhere. All that crap I had to put up with was for nothing because you couldn't produce 30 seconds of damn music!" she shouted the last bit. Trent bit his lip. Where had that come from? She was about to bolt out of the house when Trent grabbed her and pulled her against him.

"I didn't realize that it was real fire Janie was trying to fan. I thought Jane had found something that would fluster you whenever she felt the need to get under your skin. She enjoys that." Trent said while rubbing her back.

"I still wasted my time crushing on you. I felt like Quinn so many damn times throughout that whole situation..." she breathed out raggedly trying to hold back her sobs.

"It was a dumb move on my part to say 'yes' to that damn project anyway. I let you down."

"You couldn't take that commitment seriously and that led me to believe that you couldn't seriously commit to anything with me."

"I can't blame you for jumping to that conclusion. I blame myself for letting you jump to that conclusion."

"hen there was the fact that I don't look like Monique and that I'm not as old as she is."

"I didn't take that relationship with Monique seriously. I just saw it as an escape from the stresses of the Spiral. I haven't had a serious relationship since before I graduated."

"Is that why you fought all the time?"

"Yeah, that and the fact that I didn't go to all of her band's gigs. There style isn't what I'm used to."

"You weren't being the supportive boyfriend?" she asked after looking up at him.

"That was what was pissing Monique off. I couldn't be there every night. I had my own band to deal with."

"I still wasted my time though."

"No, I was waiting for you to turn 18. I knew you mother couldn't say anything if you were 18 and were going out with me. She hates me you know."

"I know."

"I want to forget about that damn project."

"I..." Daria began but stopped. Could she really overlook his failure? Then she realized that O'Neill was to blame for all of this. She wasn't going to let Lawndale High control her life more than it was already controlling it.

"It never happened." Daria finally said and Trent smiled.

"Cool." Trent replied.

"Listen, could you help me with something?"

"What?"

"It's bad enough that Quinn's being babysat by her cousin or whatever, but her cousin's boyfriend came along with her. How could a brain get an older guy like him? I mean sure he's not the sharpest dresser in the world, but he's out of that brain's league." Sandi complained. "C'mon, we don't want to lose them." Sandi added and she, Stacy, and Tiffany followed.

Hope you enjoyed that. Let me hear them if you've got anymore episode ideas. I think I'm running out.
