Let's try this one again. Warning, over enthusiastic cops.

The song that Trent was singing was getting on her nerves. Whatever muse was inspiring those lyrics needed to die a long, slow, horrible...

"Blue lights?" Daria said seeing the lights of a cop car flashing in the rear view mirror. The sight stopped Trent's song in its tracks. Trent pulled over to the side of the road and kept his hands on the steering wheel. Daria's slight nervousness turned into panic as another cop car pulled up and stopped in front of the tank and the four officers charged out of their cars with there guns drawn.

"Shit."" Trent whispered.

"Out of the van now!" one officer asked. "And keep your hands where we can see them you wetback smugglers!"

'Wetback...we're nowhere near the Mexico boarder...what the hell is going on here?!' she thought while doing what the officer asked.

"Hey, that tickles." Trent let out as he was getting a pat down.

"Quiet you. Hey, I said everyone out!" the officer shouted, but Max and Jessie didn't wake up. "Open the door and see if those two are dead."

"Right." the third officer said and opened the door to hear them snoring. "They are asleep. Doesn't look like they were carrying any illegals." the officer reported.

"Identification, now!" the first barked. "Get the girl's ID." he ordered the fourth who nodded.

"Check the license plate man, we're from Lawndale. The van's own by the dude asleep in the van." Trent explained. "We're a band heading to a..." Trent started to explain.

"Quiet." the first said and took the proffered ID from the fourth officer. The first rolled his eyes at the name.

'Daria Morgendorffer? You a hippy or an illegal German?"

"I was born here, well, not in this state but in Texas." Daria explained trying to keep her sarcasm at bay. She knew that one smart remarked would probably end her and or Trent up in jail.

"Ran the plates, it's not the van we're looking for." the second reported.

"Lane, you take this van and don't come back this way when you head back for Lawndale, you here me boy?"

"I gotcha." Trent said and with that, the two got back into the van and drove off.

"That was..."

"A load of shit?" Trent offered.

"Do you know how much it took out of me not to say something?"

"Glad you didn't. They had stun guns on them as well as the guns they flashed at us. That shit would have sucked.' Trent said pissed.

"Hey, did we lose Nick before the cops stopped us?" Daria asked changing the subject.

"Huh? Oh, yeah, Nick's out of the band. I couldn't keep putting up with him and Max fighting all the time. Plus, we're meeting our old bass and keyboard player."

"Keyboard player?"

"Yeah, she's a fan of goth metal and symphonic rock." Trent explained.

"And this other bass player?"

"He's a full on metal head." Trent replied with a grin.

"Uh, how will that mesh with your grunge sound?"

"Hey, it works. Hmmmm, you remember where I was? I knew I was singing a new song..."

"Nope, no clue." Daria quickly answered.

"Hmmmm, oh well, it'll come back to me."

'I hope the hell not.' Daria thought.

"Ok?"

"My first encounter with aggressive cops hasn't traumatized me, but do you really know another way back to Lawndale?"

"Hmmmm, it'll be a bumpy ride back, but it'll get us home and keep us away from those cops. At least they didn't think I was having sex with you or they would have arrested me for statutory rape." Trent said and Daria turned away hiding her blush. Trent smiled to himself. 'I can still do that to her. Tom, you fuck up I swear I'm kicking your ass.' he vowed and continued to drive the tank on to their gig.
