She rubbed at her tired eyes again and put her glasses back on. She didn't know how long she'd been staring at the computer monitor, nor did she know how long she'd been typing. Her mental train was soon derailed by her mother coming in thinking that Tom was up here with her. After her mother left, Daria sighed and sat back down.

'I didn't need that right now.' Daria thought. The the phone rang making her frustration grow a bit more. "Hello?"

"I'm here and you're still at home about to miss the movie. I'd say you aren't going to make it, what do you say?"

"Crap." Daria swore seeing what time it was. "I'll be there as soon as I can get there." she replied to Jane and hung up. 'I'll be back, Melody.' she thought and left to go meet Jane.

"So, why the hell didn't you show up on time? Helen bothering to be a mother again?" Jane asked as the two walked down the street coming from the theater.

"She thought I was...errr...having...the mating dance of life with Tom, but that's not what's been distracting me."

"Ok, so what has made you lose all sense of time?" Jane asked.

"New Melody Powers story."

"That's what's gotten you distracted?"

"I'm trying to keep the continuity straight. That means I have had to to hunt up all my Melody Powers stories and read and re-read them so I don't mess up."

"You don't usually obsess over your Melody Powers stories. Although, you do put more work into them than anything else."

"I started that whole series of stories back when I was seven."

"Seven?" Jane asked shocked.

"I was inspired by having to be forced to watch a James Bond Marathon with my dad." Daria explained.

"Wait a minute, you didn't right about a female spy having sex..."

"No, that came when I was thirteen." Daria quickly said and Jane smirk.

"Ok, so why put so much effort into it?"

"Well...I'm thinking of...sending this one somewhere...to be...published." Daria hesitantly said.

"Well now, that's a big step. No wonder you were so preoccupied. Tom know you're slaving over a hot story?"

"I've been giving him the cold shoulder for the past two weeks."

"Well, let me know when you've gotten a response." Jane said.

"Just don't let anyone know I'm putting any effort into this."

"Hey, I won't tell you're actually putting effort into something. Man, I guess I should be glad you and Trent didn't get together. Your slacker tendencies would have become more dominate if you were dating Trent." Jane said with a smirk.

"Shut up." Daria spat back and Jane continued to smirk.

Her heart was racing as she hid from Mr. O'Neill's line of sight. She was at the post office to mail off her story, but her English teacher had shown up so she was keeping out of sight. Sighing in relief after he had left, Daria quickly mailed off her story and left the post office as fast as she could.

She looked down at the manilla envelope incredulously. She opened it up and dumped the contents out. Her eyes widen as a copy of the magazine that she'd submitted her story came out, followed by a letter and...

"A check? I got paid for it?" she asked her self not believing it to be true. She quickly read over the letter then grabbed the magazine and found where in the issue it was. Marking the page with the letter, she pocketed the check and shot out of her room. Had her parents noticed, they would have been shocked by how fast she left the house.

"Judging by that magazine you are holding and the look of...euphoria on your face, can I say you've been published?"

"Read it for yourself." Daria said and handed over the copy to Jane. Jane smirked seeing the story.

"Well, now that you've gotten yourself published, what do you want to do next?"

"They want me to send in a Melody Powers story to them every month. I'm going to have to put all my hand written stories into the computer. A new computer."

"New computer? Where are you..." Jane began but Daria showed her the check and Jane's eyes widen. "Well now, when are you going to share the spoils with your best friend?"

"After I get something more reliable and better suited for the task of writing than the dinosaur of a machine I've got."

"Then I guess this calls for a celebratory pizza." Jane said and the two left.

The recording studio was quiet, except for the young man turning the pages of a magazine. His amber eyes were alight with amusement as he read.

"Hey, what are you reading?"

"Oh, how many of them are up, Trent?" he asked.

""I'm the first one up, Daric. Jessie, Max, and our producer are still sleep."

"Ok, sound check?"

"Yeah. So, what were you reading?

"Someone submitted a very interesting short story to this publication. Whoever this Daria Morgendorffer is, she knows how to right a good spy thriller."

"Did you say Daria Morgendorffer?" Trent asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"I know her. She goes to school with Jane."

"Well now, didn't think baby Lane would have such connections to such talent. I guess you Lanes magnetize talent to you huh?" Daric joked and Trent grinned.

"Artists like surrounding themselves with other artists." Trent remarked and Daric nodded.

"C'mon, let's finish sound check and wake everyone up. If we can knock out these last few tracks we can be out of here by the end of the week." Daric said.

"Cool. Trent replied.

Hope you enjoyed that.

If you've got anymore episode suggestions, let me no. I know that some of you want to see certain chapters turned into their own stand-alone story, but wherever they end in my head is where they end, sorry.
