Hoped everyone enjoyed 49. There was a chapter naming issue that I fixed. That was the upload problem for 49.
Ok, this starts after 409, but ignores 410. Enjoy. And, forgive me for upgrading the technology in this part. I'm about to do probably the most cliched thing any shipper writer could do. You'll see what I mean when you read ahead.

Andrea violently dug through her locker. She was still pissed about having to work at Pay-Day, but not as much after Daria and Jane hadn't done what they usually did. She growled at her cell phone's need to get her attention.
"What do they fucking want now?" she growled seeing that she had gotten a text message. However, the sender hadn't been one of her parents checking on her. "Could it be..." she said and read the message and grinned to herself. She quickly replied and stuffed her phone back in her pocket before heading onto her next class. Her cousin was coming back to Lawndale and would pick her up after school.

Andrea quickly exited the school and looked around. Hearing a loud, shrill whistle, she looked and found the source. A paled skin girl with black hair with half her small body hanging out of the car door had whistled to get the other goth's attention. Andrea smiled and came over to the car.
"When did you start affording sport cars, Angel?" Andrea asked.
"This Jaguar XJ is my soul mate's." Angel replied.
"You, a boyfriend, or are..."
"He's male." she replied with a grin and Andrea got in and Angel gunned the motor.
"So, where is he and why is he letting use his car?"
"He's finishing up his audition with a local band."
"A musician...met him when you went to college?"
"Yes."
"You know where Pay-Day is?"
"You mean that obscenely large warehouse store?"
"Yeah, drop me off there, I've got work forced upon me by my parents to do there. Is he going to get in and are you going to join this band?"
"I've already proven myself and judging from what they were doing before I left I believe Daric is in as well."
"When is your first gig?"
"Next Saturday at some cheerleader's party. The head of the band said they needed the money."
"That would be Brittany Taylor's party. Only her father would want to celebrate such mediocrities."
"Then I suppose you're not coming?"
"And miss the possible mayhem? I'm there sister." Andrea said and Angel pulled up to the curb and Andrea quickly got out and headed inside.

Back at the school, Daria and Jane had just seen Andrea get in the car.
"What was that?" Jane asked.
"Maybe there's things we don't know about Andrea." Daria said and the two made their way to the Lane compound. The moment they stepped foot in, they could feel that the Spiral was at play, but the sound seemed different to Daria.
"Well now, I guess the great bass hunt is over." Jane said with a smirk.
"Great bass hunt?" Daria asked as the two girls headed for the basement.
"Yep," Jane said before opening the door and the two went down the stairs. The song ended just as Jane hit the bottom of the steps. "I guess the spiral still lives huh Trent?"
"Hey Janie, Daria, yeah, we've found a replacement for Nick." Trent said with a half grin.
"And he's a thousand times better than Nick." Max relayed and Jessie rolled his eyes.
"So, when Spiral 2.0's first gig?" Jane asked.
"We're playing at a high school party. Ugh, it almost makes me feel like I'm back in high school." Trent grimaced.
"This wouldn't happen to be Brittany Talor's party would it?" Jane asked.
"Yep, how'd you know?" Jessie asked.
"We go to high school, remember? Hey Daria, care to lend amoral support for these guys?"
"Isn't going to parties a responsibility of a boyfriend?" Daria asked.
"C'mon, we need to spend more time together."
"How long is Tom out of town?"
"A week,"
"Fine, but I reserve the right to leave at any time I choose to." Daria countered.
"Deal."
'She hates parties as much as I did.' Trent thought.
"You guys done?" a voice asked coming down the stairs.
"Just taking a break, my black haired death goddess." Daric said with a smile and the girl that had picked up Andrea came into view.
"I would have been back sooner, but my cousin wanted me to drop her off at work instead of home." Angel answered.
"Your cousin is Andrea?" Jane asked. Angel turned to see the two new faces before.
"Jane, Daria, meet the Spiral's first keyboard play, Angel Blackstar." Trent introduced.
"There must be some sort of goth branch in your family." Jane said.l
"Some of us enjoy the darker side of life." Angel said taking her position back at her keyboard.
"C'mon Daria, no need to go death quite yet." Jane said and the two retreated back up the stairs.
"Hey!" Jessie shouted at Trent who snapped out of his trance.
"Oh, sorry man." Trent said shaking his head.
"Does this have something to do with that song 'Grey Eyes' you're writing?"
"Uh..." Trent began and Max shook his head.
"You're losing your focus man." Max said.
"What? No I'm not." Trent counter. "It's better than your song about the temperature falling below sub-zero."
"What!?" Max cried.
"Hey, let's just get back to practice. Trent, I'll help you with the song, I've written enough to know what works and what doesn't. And so fucking what if it's about that auburn that just left."
"Hey, why don't we play 'So What?'(1) ?" Jessie offered.
"And get thrown out for that one, no way man. He says 'fuck' more times in that song than in all their other albums combined." Trent said and the band continued to practice.

Trent took in a deep breath as he stood against the tank. The party was over, but the guests were only trickling out. They had gotten a better reaction to their music than he thought they would. Of course, 'Grey Eyes' had been the popular one due to the fact that it was sort of a ballad, but with a powerful guitar solo. Hopefully, Daria didn't pick up on the fact that it was about her and it was a sort of an apology song for screwing up that damn project.
'She won't figure it out.' he thought.
"Hey,"
"Oh, hey Daria." he greeted.
"Uh, where is the rest of the band?"
"Max and Nick are cleaning out the rest of the food and Angel and Daric are with Angel's cousin." Trent answered.
"That last song, it had the most feeling to it than any Spiral song I've ever heard. Sure your normal crowd will like it?"
"Don't care if those normal drunks that we play for like it or not." Trent let out.
"Who is it about?"
"Does it have to be about someone I know?" Trent questioned trying to keep an even tone.
"Well, it's just that...you're apologizing to a girl with grey eyes for screwing up a commitment and that's eerily like what happened when we asked you to produce us some music for that school project."
"Just a coincidence." Trent said with a smile.
"I don't believe in coincidences."
"Think it's about you?"
"I didn't say that, just that it seems to close to what happened is all."
"It is."
"What?" she asked in a soft tone of voice that Trent had never heard before.
"Yeah, it's about my fuck up and it's my apology song. I know that I didn't have any real excuse for not coming through with that music. Like it?" he asked and in reply, she hugged him. 'I guess she did.' he thought and hugged her back. 'Second chance man, second chance.'
