This one is a little angsty at the beginning. Also, this starts post-mordum again and will probably contain scenes from certain season 4 episodes. Cookie to the one that gets which other episodes are used as well in this one.

She laid back on her bed. She had returned from pizza with Jane and Tom. The last couple of weeks were stressful. That coupled with what Trent and she had said to each other had done damage to the dam that held her emotions in check. Then, like a champagne bottle, her emotions uncorked.

'Why did I waste so much of my emotions on him? Why couldn't I see...' she thought before she quickly buried her face in her pillow and started crying. Anger and sadness mixed and caused a hurricane of emotions within her as she continued to cry into her pillow. After ten minutes of this, she finally fell asleep.

The two friends walked to school together a couple of days later. Jane was about to go into a Tom story when she could see that her friend wasn't in the mood to talk or listen to her at the moment.

"Ok, what's up with the silent treatment?" Jane asked.

"Don't ever let me waste my time and emotions on a boy like that again, Jane." she said.

"Whoa, hold it, time out, where did that come from?" she asked after stopping and putting a hand on Daria's shoulder to stop her.

"I'm finally over that crush. I realized how unreliable he is. I hate myself for not seeing that." Daria explained and Jane bit her lip. Daria continued, "I'm not going to go through that again. I got nothing out of that." she finished and continued on. Jane followed and wondered what had the idiot of a brother had said to her friend that had put her in such an angst mood.

She sat there, listening to her sister go on and on about her potential dates for the following weekend. Helen and Jake weren't listening completely. They were both using Quinn so that they wouldn't have to talk to each other at the moment since they weren't on speaking terms at the moment.

"Why the hell would you waste so much time and effort in liking someone?" Daria growled finally. That caught both Quinn and Helen's attention. "All you'll find out is that they can be trusted in the end because they won't put any effort into anything you get them to commit to." she finished with a slamming of her fist on the table. She left the kitchen and went upstairs.

"Now where did that come from?" Helen asked aloud. 'Did she get Jake's temper?' she mused.

'Damn it! Because of Trent I'm stuck with Brittany on this stupid assignment for Bennett's class. That's it, I'm going to give that boy a piece of my mind.' Jane thought. "Head on to my room Brittany, I've got to tell my brother something."

"Brother?" the blond asked stopping beside Jane at Trent's door.

"Yeah, but he's not going to be interested in you. He's already got a girlfriend." she said aloud to the cheerleader, "If I've got anything to say about it he'll be with her." she mumbled to herself.

"Huh?"

"Just head on to my room, this'll only take a minute."

"Ok." Brittany said overly enthusiastically. The blond went bouncing down the hall and Jane stormed into Trent's room.

"Trent!"

Trent jumped from his reading of his lyrics hearing Jane shouting at him. He turned to see an angry younger sister glaring at him.

"Uh,"

"I don't know what you said to Daria after you fucked up that project of ours, but you better fix it right now! She's upset and the only person that caused it and the only person that can fix it is you so do it!" she hollered and stormed out of the room. Trent bit his lip. Daria was upset and he'd been the cause. He quickly got up and headed out to look for her since it was obvious that Daria wasn't with Jane at the moment.

He sighed as he sat at a booth at the Pizza King. He hadn't found her yet, but he wasn't about to give up, not yet. He then spotted Daria coming with someone that he guessed was another classmate of hers. Soon, Jane ant a cheerleader came followed by two more guys, one looking as if he played on the football team. He got up and started heading towards the gathered. However, Daria had spotted him and she took off. Trent followed her hoping that she wasn't as fast as Jane was.

"What was that about?" Jodie asked.

"Future lover's spat." Jane said cryptically.

"Huh?" Jodie asked confused.

"You better fix this, Trent." Jane said quietly to herself.

"Ok, what did I do?" Trent asked after finally catching up to Daria.

"What did you do? Oh nothing, just show me how useless it is to like a guy." Daria bit and Trent winced.

'Oh man, I fucked up royally this time. Janie was right, I did make her mad.' Trent thought. "Ok, you're mad at me."

"Well, at least you aren't oblivious enough not to notice that." Daria bit yet again and Trent sighed.

"I didn't come through with that music and it was stupid of me not to tell you that I was having trouble writing something. Now, how that has anything to do with you liking me is what I can't figure out."

"Then, maybe this will get you to understand. You committed to our deadline, you couldn't come through and then you tell me that you and I might have a difference on opinion on what commit means. So, I figure if you couldn't commit to a lame school assignment, then you probably couldn't commit yourself to me."

Trent sighed inwardly. She had a mind sharper than a bag full of tacks, but she could over think things at times, but he gave her that impression though didn't he? He came closer to her and put a hand on her shoulder so she wouldn't be able to bolt again.

"Ok, you leapt to that conclusion because you were drawn to me. I didn't take that seriously because of the way Janie was messing with you about whatever you were feeling for me. Now, will you let me fix this?"

"And just how do you think you'll be able to fix this?" Daria questioned. Trent grinned, leaned in, and kissed her on the lips. The auburn found herself relaxing into the kiss.

"Well?" Trent asked after pulling back.

"That's...a...good start." she managed to get out.

"Next time I'll be more careful." he said and he walked her home. Two figures watched the pair go.

"Looks like she didn't need help."

"Yeah, but it almost looked like we would have to step in."

"No, you would have to step in. You're Cupid you bloody bastard."
"Well, looks like the order of things is fine for now, let's get back to Holiday Island." Cupid said and St. Patrick's Day quickly agreed.

Three people sat at the back of the bus. Two were cuddled up together while the third rolled her eyes playfully at the couple. Jane was relieved when she found out that had repaired that burnt bridge with Daria, but was more surprised that the two were slowly building a new bridge. Whatever this new thing was between the two, it certainly was changing Trent. He wasn't sleeping as much as he used to and he was working the band like a bunch of dogs.

Currently though, they were on a school trip to the mountains for Li's extreme sports club. Of course, this was another scheme for Li to get more money. Trent was drafted by Li when the superintendent told her that she needed one more chaperone. So, knowing where all former Lawndale students were, Li had drafted Trent. Of coursed, this sort of irked Jane since her boyfriend couldn't come, but she got over it. There would have been no way to get him to come anyway.

888

"Well, that was certainly full of stupidity." Jane remarked.

"Thought Mr. DeMartino had died there for a minute." Trent commented as the Lanes got into Trent's car.

"Now that would have destroyed Li's plans for taking over the world." Jane said with a smirk.

"Wish Daria didn't have to ride back with her parents, though." Trent lamented.

"I only wanted you to fix things, but you went beyond the call of duty." Jane said with a smirk.

She sighed contently as she continued to read. Jane might have been a little put out about her calling Tom and leaving that movie suggestion, but beyond that, staying over at Jane's was far better than the hotel. Her source of contentedness didn't just come from the book she was reading. No, her contented natured came from the face that she was using Trent as a backrest/pillow as she read. She was sitting between Trent's outstretched legs with her back against his and his back against the headboard of Penny's bed. He had better back support than any pillow she had encountered. She quickly returned to reading not knowing that they had a spy.

Trent could see that Tom was watching them. He gave the other boy a look that clearly said 'what'?. Daria had told him about the parade incident and had told Trent that she wouldn't give Tom anymore hell, but that she wasn't going to get any closer than that to him. Inwardly, that had relieved Trent. Tom was a threat that he didn't know how to defend against.

Trent saw the annoyed looked on Tom's face and the older boy wrapped his arms lightly around the auburn's waist and Tom left with a scowl on his face.

'She's mine Slone, you can't have her.' Trent thought possessively. 'Damn, it's been a while since I've been possessively of someone.' he mused and relaxed as he continued to watch Daria read and to hold her.

If you guys have any episode suggestions let me know. I was pondering about 'Jake of Hearts', but I don't know how to turn that one into something more shipper friendly.
