'He's laying on my bed...' Daria thought hoping that she wasn't blushing. 'He's laying...on my...damn it, say something!' she shouted in her mind. "Gig tonight?"
"Nah, going out with Monique." he replied all the while enjoying Daria's bed.
"Oh," she said trying to keep her disappointment hidden. 'Damn it Jane, he's not available! I'm going to kill her.' she thought. "I didn't know you two were dating."
"When you first met her we were off...now we are back on again." Trent replied.
"Uh, if you don't mind me asking, why go back to her if you know you'll break up again?" she asked. Trent laid there pondering for a bit.
"I guess its just something I feel comfortable with, but you are right, we do break up too much." Trent finally answered.
"Trent," Jane greeted coming into the room.
"Hey Janie, you got a toothbrush I can borrow?" he asked and Jane hands him one.
"Keep it, consider it a gift." Jane said.
"Thanks, later." Trent said and left the room.
"Well now, what were you two..."
"Why didn't you tell me he was dating Monique?" Daria demanded.
"Uh oh, are they back together again? Damn, boy never learns."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Daria growled.
"Sorry. Didn't know he was back with her."
"No more trying to get me with him." she requested and Jane sighed.
"Ok, but don't think I'll give up on this if he breaks up with her again. Which might happen tonight." Jane said with a smirk and sat back down at the scrabble game.
"Don't give me any hope, Jane." Daria retorted and joined her friend.

"Don't give me any hope, false or otherwise." Daria replied. Trent whipped his head around after he had recovered from his coughing fit that was caused by his comment of taking Daria out if she were older. Trent bit his lip. He hadn't meant it as a joke, but had his comment her? He walked back towards her and hugged her.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to make that sound like I was hurting you." he said while Daria's face flamed up. "I'm not putting you down just because you're 16..."
"17," she said in a low tone.
"17? Did Janie and I miss your birthday?" Trent asked.
"No, I told Jane that if she made a big fuss then I'd kill her." Daria replied.
"Gotcha. Why would you want to date with someone that doesn't have your potential?"
"I don't know why I like you..." she began and her hand went to her mouth and her face almost turns a shade of purple from the blush. Jane watched from the sidelines wondering what her brother was doing.
"That's what I figured." Trent remarked while keeping his hold on her so she wouldn't bolt.
"Oh god," she said extremely distraught.
"Hey, I'd feel privileged to date you. You are ten times better than I deserve." he said and Daria thought that her face might actually catch on fire. Trent continued. "Your father seems to like me, but your mother doesn't seem to think much of me."
"My mother only gets involved when her work isn't distracting her." Daria said.
"Ok, if you're willing to do this, then I'd be willing to date you, if that is what you want." In response, Daria gripped him tightly. Trent smirked to himself. He'd have to take it slow with her. He'd been dating since his freshman year of high school so he needed to make sure he didn't scare her with his experience. He saw the thumbs-up from Jane and Trent shook his head. Although, anything with Daria had to be better than Monique.
