MaxJ1800: Thank you. I needed that anvil of common sense dropped on me. What the hell was I thinking? Thanks for giving me the course correction I needed. If all my readers haven't already, go back and read 16 again, or this part won't make sense.

"Look at that Leslie, that one kid is causing more chaos and damage to the city and Team Alphanumeric than my crime ring did!" Mr. Big shouts. He and his assistant what out of the window of his office as the third battle between Team Alphanumeric and weapon X² tears through the downtown district. "Look at that! He picked up a bus and through it like it was some sort of toy."
'He may be stronger than both of them combined, sir." Leslie replies.
"And he'll be the key to getting my ring back." Mr. Big states firmly.
"How?"
"This!" he says and whips out the lust ray.
"How will that help, sir?"
"It'll get his attention. If his planet's scientists created him like I think they did, then Team Alphanumeric will be no more! Or at least, this weapon X² will come looking for me and I can use him to get back my crime ring and take the city, no the entire country!" Mr. Big says and laughs. He takes careful aim and fires.

"I...,don't...,know how long...,I can keep this up!" WordGirl states.
"He's not a machine, he'll have to stop throwing cars eventually." MathWiz states dodging another car.
"You two are so pathetic that it's sad. I thought I would get a challenge...,aaaahhhh!" weapon X² shouts as the lust ray hits his mind.
"what's wrong with him?" WordGirl asks finally catching her breath. Huggy shouts and points. The two look to see Mr. Big holding the lust ray and smiling.
"Ffff....," WordGirl states stopping herself from saying such a vulgar word.
"That can't be good." MathWiz quietly states. Like a mad bull, weapon X² charges at WordGirl. He reaches out and grabs her by the throat.
"I don't know why, but I have the unstoppable urge to kill you." X² growls. squeezing her windpipe. "Let's see what color a Lexiconian turns when they are running out of air!"
"Let her go!" MathWiz shouts and tries to attack, but he finds himself in the same position as WordGirl. MathWiz feels X² lifting off the ground.
"I don't know what has happened to me, but my need, no, my desire to see you die has taken over." X² says now hovering at least four stories above the ground. He was considering whether to throw them to the ground from this height or turn and fly down in a vertical drop crushing them into the concrete. then his mind clears back up.
'Someone has used some sort of mind control on me. Why would I need to kill her so badly? I must talk to the Cubed Root about this.' X² thinks and lands with now the unconscious pair of heroes. He drops them none too gently onto the ground and takes off. Huggy scratches his head wondering why X² didn't do what he had intended to do in the first place.

"This is weapon X² come in Cubed Root."
"What do you have to report?"
"A problem. Someone hit me with some sort of mind control ray. I lost control of myself and almost went on ahead and killed the Lexiconian."
"Find the human. Get rid of the device and complete your mission."
"Understood." X² states and cuts communications.

It had been a media circus and a train wreck all at once at the hospital. There had been people seriously hurt from X²'s last attack. After recovering, Team Alphanumeric headed to the hospital to see how bad it had been. This act of concern for the injured citizens of the city turned into a press mauling as reporters from newspapers, radio and television stations followed the pair of heroes as they tried to visit with the ones that were recovering. This was made worse by the mayor also paying a visit seeing a chance to garner more votes for his eventually re-election. Current, the heroes were sitting outside on the steps to a less used entrance of the hospital. WordGirl had her face buried in the crook of MathWiz's neck. He rubs her back as she sobs.
"I don't...,know if we can...,beat him...,Tim." she chokes out.
"He's not invincible. We will get him."
"But, he isn't like the criminals we've faced before. There are orders to shoot to kill him."
"That just means we've have to permanently get rid of him."
"I don't know if I can do that though!" she wailed.
"We have to, or he'll destroy us and everything around us. He wants us dead, unlike all the other criminals in this city." he responds holding her tightly against him. 'You'll pay for this, X². You made her cry...,and I don't like people who make her cry.'

'Mr. Big. This had to be where that ray was fired from.' X² thinks and smashes through the window. As he comes into Mr. Big's office, he feels a collar snap around his neck.
"Hello, weapon X² is it? I'm Mr. Big and you're going to help me whether you like or not." Mr. Big states pulling out a control and flipping a switch.
'Mind control! I must fight it!' X² thinks. Then his tactical mind gives him an idea. 'This technology is behind any sort of mind control that Decimal has. My mind can't be coerced, but I'll let this foolish human think he has control over me. This may give me an opportunity to extend 2X²'s suffering.' "What is your wish, Mr. Big." X² says making the cocky businessman believe that he had won.
"Hahahaha!" Mr. Big laughs triumphantly. He would get back what he had built and take over the country, no, with X² at his disposal he could make the world his squishy bunny.
