MaxJ1800: That's good, that's damn good, and funny too. Season 12, here we come! Carina has X weapon genes in her. She's also got the mind of both a Lexicon and a Decimalian. Not a good explanation, but I think it fits.

It was the day everyone was waiting on since the trial had begun. WordGirl, champion of Prepsoterocity, was going to be called to the stand.
"Call your next witness." the judge commands.
"I call WordGirl to the stand."
"Order. Order." the judge commands banging his gavel and the crowd calms down. With her held high, WordGirl takes the stand.
"We've heard your partner's and your daughter's account of things. Now, tell the court why you did what you did." Clair states.
"We were looking frantically for my daughter after we found a note from the bomber He had already attacked the school earlier that day." WordGirl begins.
"And you were already frustrated with with him at this point."
"Yes,. Taking my daughter just threw me into a rage. All I could do was worry whether or not my daughter would be alive when I found her."
"What happened when you entered that warehouse?"
"My daughter had managed to get out of whatever cage the bomber had her in. I told her to come to me and she hesitated for only a second. She did come over and I put her in the pouch on the back of my costume. MathWiz charges and started attacking the bomber. Once he had the bomber up against a wall, I joined. The more I attacked, the angrier I got. I couldn't stand the fact that one of our enemies had so easily taken my daughter filled me with rage. All I wanted to do was finish him off. I wanted to pay and I did, but I didn't take any pleasure in killing him afterwards." WordGirl explains.
"This was an act of a mother protecting a child wasn't it?"
"Yes."
"No further questions." Clair says and sits down. The second chair DA stands, looking smug, and approaches.
"Didn't he deserve to stand trial though?" the DA asks.
"He new our true identities and where our daughter lived. He would just keep coming after her and I couldn't allow that."
"You couldn't allow that. what makes you more worthy to judge than the judge or that jury over their?"
"He wouldn't have left us alone! He wanted MathWiz dead, and his daughter dead as well. I couldn't let that happen!"
"So you were also defending a lover as well. You're not the most responsible super hero are you?" the DA asks.
"Objection, relevance?" Clair asks.
"Goes to a pattern of irresponsibility as a hero, your honor." the DA states.
"I'm giving you a short leash, get to the point." the judge growls.
"In your fights with your enemies, before you met MathWiz, didn't destruction of property occur?"
"Yes."
"And did or did you not return to help fix that damage?"
"I will admit that I wasn't quite responsible as I am now...,"
"And then you and MathWiz had a child with all the anti-pregnancy products out there you had a child. How irresponsible is that when you've got so many enemies?"
"At the time we belive that I was protected."
"Maybe you need to be more careful. Why haven't you decided to retire and just take care of your child?"
"The city's police force can't handle the ring."
"And you feel responsible to the city?"
"Yes."
"And yet you murdered one of your enemies, didn't you?"
"I was protecting my family!"
"Do you believe yourself above the law, WordGirl?"
"No."
"Nothing further." the DA states and sits back down.
"Defense?" the judge asks.
"The defense rests." Clair states.
"Closing arguments will be after lunch." the judge states and slams his gavel down.

"WordGirl's testified today along with closing arguments. Clair Drakesford gave probably her best closing of her career...," the anchor reports. The jury now had the case. No one knew how long it would take, but the jury was taking it's time.

"Emma, he's hiding something from me again. Do you know what it is?"
"No." Emma states. She knew, but she could lie to Becky's face better than Tim could.
"I guess it must be the stress of all this waiting getting to me." Becky sighs.
"He's been researching something and talking to his mother and your parents, but that's all I know." Emma says. Becky sighs and lays back on the bed.

A week passes by, and finally, the jury comes back with a verdict.
"Please rise," the judge instructs WordGirl. she stands and the judge's eyes turn to the jury. "Jury foreman, has the jury reached a verdict?"
"We have, your honor." the foreman states.
"What say you?" the judge asks.
"In the case of Prepsoterocity vs. WordGirl, we, the jury, find the defended, WordGirl....," a pause that seems to last forever takes place. Everyone waits to hear the next words...,"not guilty."
"Order. Order. Order!" the judge shouts. "This concludes your service as jurors. You have the thanks of the court. We are adjourned.

It was a loud celebration that was taking place at the Botsford residence. Everyone, Sally and Tim Botsford, Clair, and the whole of Team Alphanumeric were celebrating their leader's verdict.
"Could I get some quiet please?" Tim Drakesford calls and everyone hushes to see would he would say. "Would my beloved other half come over here?" he asks Becky and Becky walks to the middle of the living room. The three adults grin to each other knowing what would happen next. "Becky Botsford...," he begins and gets on one knee holding a velvet box in his hand. Violet eyes widen. "I looked it up. In this state, as long as we've got our parents' permission, we can marry. And we do have it, so, will you marry me?" he asks. Tobey smiles appreciative at the ring. The boy had chosen.
"Yes," she says tears of joy running down her face, "a thousand times yes!" she tackles Tim to the ground and kisses him.
"Three cheers to the newly engage couple!" Tim Botsford shouts and everyone cheers the two.
"Tobey?"
"Yes Violet?" he says trying to not gulp from being nervous.
"Not now, but I think our parents better discuss us getting married...,after you've gotten that company off the ground." Violet says smiling. Tobey smiles to himself. He needed to be financially secure before he'd pop the question. For the rest of that night, Becky stayed glued to Tim's hip. Now, legally, they would be married on this planet as well.
