This story is something of an adventure for me. It's something I've never tried, and something I feel hasn't ever really been tried before. I hope you'll enjoy this little journey through one of society's lesser understood classifications. Also it should be noted that some of the chapters posted on will be significantly cut down from the original chapters, which will be posted on Deviant Art under the username NeoChaosLarry. I'll be sure to note when a chapter has been edited for . Thanks for reading, please review, and most importantly: enjoy.

Prologue:

The City of Townsville – 10 Years Later

The City of Townsville had undergone many changes over the years. Once a festering cesspool of violence and criminal activity. One day, a scientist, fueled by the hope that his childhood home could once again become the loving community it was so long ago, brought into the world a set of triplets with extraordinary power. They rose up from the darkness and drove it back, ushering in a new golden era of justice. Their actions begun a new battle for peace in a city bedraggled by chaos. By these three little girls, the city of Townsville had once again become a city worth fighting for. By these three little girls, the world had been saved.

By these three little girls...the entire world will go to Hell...

The Powerpuff Girls, now fifteen years old, had grown up hard, always battling against constant evil and wrongdoing. But they had grown up just and right, never losing sight of the master plan, never forgetting what it was they fought for. What they lacked in beauty by society's standards, they made up for in superhuman dedication and bravery. The City of Townsville was better for having them, and the world was still standing for suffering them. Our story begins just two weeks before a global holiday: The Powerpuff Girls' Birthday. Just fourteen days remained before the girls finally reached their sweet sixteen. The girls were excited, their father was excited, their friends were excited, the world was excited.

I couldn't be more excited...

“Hey Bubbles, wait up!” Robyn Snider, the girls' best friend since Kindergarten, ran up to the brace-faced blonde waiting for her with a giddy grin. Robyn returned the grin and began to walk beside her, on their way toward the cafeteria. Bubbles self-consciously licked her teeth, but quickly grinned again.

“So...what did he say?” Her “S”es contorted slightly, Bubbles nevertheless squealed when her friend blushes. “Is that a 'yes'?” Robyn sighed and rubbed her arm.

“Well...it wasn't exactly a 'yes', but it wasn't exactly a 'no' either. He said it sounded cool, is that a 'yes'?” Bubbles clapped and nodded, catching Robyn's wrist and hurrying them to their destination.

“Of course it is! Oh man, Blossom and Buttercup are gonna be so stoked!” Robyn laughed as the two set their books down at the table the foursome usually occupied. The redhead and brunette were nowhere to be found, probably getting food. Bubbles and Robyn sat down and began chattering away regarding Robyn's news. Sure enough, Buttercup and Blossom showed up a few moments later with trays in tow.

“Hey! Robyn, how did it go? You were so nervous during math,” Blossom asked with a polite smile, sitting down. Buttercup plopped down and picked up her burger, winking at Robyn.

“He said 'yes' didn't he?” Robyn blushed bright red, which prompted Blossom to grin and Buttercup to pump her fist, “Oh yeah! I called it! Nice going Bobbi!” Buttercup slapped a half-enthused high-five with her friend who still looked a bit nervous. Blossom took a bite of a fry, swallowing and wiping off her mouth before addressing Robyn's discomfort.

“What's wrong, Robyn? You still seem so nervous,” Robyn cleared her throat and pushed her books away.

“Oh it's nothin', I'm just hungry, be right back,” Robyn quickly hurried away. The three sisters watched her go, giggling at the not-so-subtle spring in their friend's step. Bubbles sighed blissfully and rested her cheeks on her hands.

“She's so into him! Ooh I hope they have fun this weekend!” Blossom nodded, wiping her mouth again, wincing a giving Buttercup an irate glare when her sister took a noisy bite of her cheeseburger.

“Oh yawh, sheesh got eht bawd!” Blossom and Bubbles both stuck their tongues out. Buttercup swallowed and shrugged, “What? This better?” Bubbles laughed while Blossom just rolled her eyes.

“Yes, please, try to be somewhat civilized,” Bubbles snickered as Buttercup mimicked Blossom, earning her another glare. Before sparks could fly, a frustrating beep rang out on Blossom's waist. All three perked up eagerly.

“Hello, Mr. Mayor? What's the problem?” Blossom took yet another dainty bite of a fry while answering the Hotline Cell. The Mayor's incoherent babbling drew an eye-roll from Blossom, which in turn made her sisters chuckle quietly. Blossom nodded, eating another fry. “Alright, Mr. Mayor, we'll be right on it,” Blossom hung up and slipped the phone back into the holder on her belt.

“So, what is it? What is it?” Buttercup asked eagerly, grinning and finishing off the last of her burger. Bubbles looked equally as excited. Blossom stood up, sighing and grabbing her tray.

“A robbery at the jewelry store, he mentioned automatic weapons, so it might actually be interesting this time,” Buttercup grinned and grabbed her tray, hurrying after Blossom to put it away. Bubbles caught up with Robyn, who was just getting back. Robyn laughed when she saw how excited the triplets looked.

“Got a call? Good luck you guys,” Bubbles nodded and waved as they hurried out.

“Thanks Bobbi! See ya in English!” And then in a three-colored rainbow, the Powerpuff Girls were off to work.

The jewelry store was completely surrounded, patrol cars blocking off the entire street. Both windows had been smashed out, and the air was filled with the sound of gunfire. There were three officers down, badly injured. By the time the girls had arrived, the swat team had already been called in. The girls landed by the police chief, who was holding his arm. Scarlet streaks trailed down his dark skin. Blossom stared at the gunshot wound, her eyes following the trail of blood. She quickly looked away, looking at an officer who was in much worse condition. His leg had been completely taken off, blood pooled around him in a sickening splatter. His hand lacked all but two fingers. The officer taking care of him had a massive gash in his face, presumably from the shattered glass.

“What's the situation? The Mayor's briefing was very vague,” The chief glanced at Blossom, following her gaze to the injured officers.

“We think there are about six of them, four with automatic weapons, one with a pistol, and one with a shotgun...we think they may have a C4 explosive, but we can't get anyone in or close enough to confirm it,” Blossom nodded, all three slipping into a more serious, more heroic state of mind.

“Bubbles, get on the roof and tell me exactly how many we're dealing with and where the hostages are,” Bubbles nodded and slipped out, going the long way around. She jumped up onto the roof. Bubbles knelt down, her eyes glowing green. She held up her mitt, making a series of gestures. Blossom brought her hand to her mouth, nodding.

“There are actually eleven, they've got four explosives...the five you didn't notice before are carrying...a machine gun, a sniper rifle, two pistols, a shotgun, and an assault rifle...seven hostages, all in the back,” Blossom nodded and whispered under her breath. Bubbles nodded and carefully floated into the air, hovering above the building. She flew back around, landing next to her sisters.

“What's the plan?” Blossom motioned forward, nodding her head toward Buttercup. Buttercup nodded and crept up to the nearest patrol car. She began shaking as she moved until completely vanishing. Blossom glanced at Bubbles and took a deep breath.

“Let's go, Sonic Scream when you're in range, Buttercup and I will take it from there,” Bubbles nodded and the two began to creep forward, shaking until they vanished completely.

Inside, it was like a war zone. There were three people already dead, two of the hostages were badly injured, and one of the hostages was a very small child. The thieves were eight men and three women, all in their early twenties. The woman in the back, manning the sniper rifle, was keeping careful watch on the door. She blinked and glanced away, listening carefully. She opened her eyes and looked at the floor, noticing that some of the glass shards from earlier had shifted. The woman's eyes widened, and she started to rise.

“Look...” Before she could say much else, an earth-shattering scream broke the tense silence. It rose in pitch, getting higher and higher, louder and louder until even the diamonds began shattering. Everyone, hostages included, struggled to block out the mindnumbingly painful sound. No one could see, ears began to bleed, minds began to churn in their skulls. Just below the hypersonic shriek, a vicious beating could barely be heard. Outside, one by one, eleven bodies came flying out of the jewelry store. At last, the painful scream stopped. Once again, the Powerpuff Girls had saved the day!

“So Bobbi, are you excited about the big party?” Bubbles and Robyn were sitting in the latter's backyard, on the same swing set they had played on as children. Both were gently swinging back and forth. Robyn nodded and smiled.

“Yeah! I bet you guys are more excited than anyone else, right?” Bubbles nodded, getting giggly, more so than usual.

“Oh yes! Blossom and Buttercup have been going at it even more than usual trying to decide what we're doing. Hehehe, they're such goofs,” They heard someone clearing her throat and turned around, spotting Blossom, who landed nearby and shook her head.

“Wow, geez...I help you on your homework and you run off to criticize me behind my back! Gosh, Bubbles!” Bubbles and Robyn both laughed as Blossom joined them on the swings. Robyn turned to Blossom, giving her an encouraging smile.

“Hey Blossom, you guys did really great today, despite what some of the news people are saying,” Blossom sighed and shrugged, leaning over and resting her chin on her hands.

“If we had gotten there sooner we could have saved those people...why did the Mayor wait so long to call us?” Bubbles bit her lip then smiled apologetically and shrugged.

“Well...we did tell him to stop calling us about every little thing...they might not have known it was so bad...” Blossom sighed and buried her face in her arms.

“I know...that's why I feel so horrible about it, I'm going to go tell him to start calling us immediately again,” Robyn rubbed Blossom's arm and frowned.

“Blossom it's not your fault, you guys can't be on call every second of the day, you've got lives too,” Blossom shook her head and sat up, brushing her hair back.

“Maybe you're right, but that's a selfish excuse,” Bubbles licked at her teeth and leaned forward, mimicking her sister. Robyn sighed and joined the two of them, frowning and staring at their feet.

“And so a brutal hostage situation was brought to an end by the Powerpuff Girls! Unfortunately...there were several injuries, and three fatalities, and our condolences go out to the families who lost loved ones in this crisis,”

The Powerpuff Girls...beacons of hope and justice in a world wrecked with fear and crime...how beautiful. They managed to stop that little fiasco with so few lasting injuries...Or did they? Oh I can see it all now, yes...why don't we see what this station says, hm?

“The Powerpuff Girls arrived late at the scene, resulting in those three fatalities and numerous injuries. This is just another tale in the series of poorly handled situations that arose since the girls protested to being called to every crime at the moment it began,”

Oh that's right! The Powerpuff Girls were late, and people were hurt because of it! Hahaha! But the girls have their own lives don't they? Oh of course not...heroes can never, ever have their own lives. Their lives belong to the people they save...isn't that right?

Blossom stared at the gunshot wound, her eyes following the trail of blood. She quickly looked away, looking at an officer who was in much worse condition. His leg had been completely taken off, blood pooled around him in a sickening splatter. His hand lacked all but two fingers. The officer taking care of him had a massive gash in his face, presumably from the shattered glass.

A bloody mess you arrived to, wasn't it? The best kind of mess, is it not? Those people hurt...it makes the situation so much more excited, does it not? Hehehe...that's right...the blood spurs you on, makes the adventure that much more worthwhile.

“The countdown to the Powerpuff Girls sixteenth birthday is now down to just fourteen more days! The whole world is holding its breath, waiting for the coming celebration! Political figures from several countries, along with other renowned metahumans and leaders will be attending the party,”

Oh...how could I possibly forget...I've been waiting for that day for an eternity now. I can hardly wait...hahahaha!

Night had fallen on Townsville, and the greater part of the city had long since gone to bed. One diligent soul was still wide awake. Blossom sat at her vanity mirror, sighing and staring at her reflection. The casualty report from the jewel theft still weighing heavily on her. She rubbed her head, thinking back to the scene of the crime, remembering every disgusting, bloody, gory, and exciting detail. Blossom groaned silently, rubbing her head and taking a deep breath.

Blossom yawned, stifling it quickly to avoid waking her sisters, both sound asleep in the beds behind her. Blossom brushed her hair back and climbed into bed, staring at the ceiling and listening to the sound of her sisters' breathing. For a moment she thought she heard one stop. Blossom's heart froze and she swallowed hard, a cold sweat breaking out on her face. Buttercup snored and rolled over, her rhythmic breathing returning to normal. Blossom shuddered and rolled onto her side, pulling the comforter up to her cheek.

Sweet dreams Blossom...
