Chapter 1: Sneaking Suspicion

It was after 7AM when Musa finally headed back to her dorm. Having spent the night with Layla she was anxious to avoid getting caught sneaking through the halls of Alfea so early on a Saturday morning. The last thing she needed was for Miss Griselda to catch her and start asking questions. She peeked around the corner to make sure no one was around before sneaking down the hall. She took one more glance back over her shoulder before opening the door to her dormitory and slipping inside. Once the door closed behind her she slumped back against the doorframe in relief.

"Whew! Safe!"

The sound of a throat being cleared made her look up in alarm. To Musa's dismay all of her dorm mates were gathered in the main room of their shared dormitory, and all of them were looking directly at her. Stella stepped forward as she cleared her throat.

"Heh hem! I believe you mean busted!"

Musa got that deer-in-the-headlights look as her bonded pixy Tune, the pixie of manners, flew right up in her face confrontationally.

"Young lady, you've got some explaining to do!"

Bloom walked a few steps closer wearing a worried look on her face.

"Musa, where were you last night?"

Musa's roommate Tecna crossed her arms and frowned at her.

"When you didn't come home last night we all went to bed assuming you were just out late on your date with Riven, but when we woke up this morning and you still weren't home we started to worry that something had happened to you."

Flora gestured with one hand from her seat on the couch.

"We called Riven to see if he knew where you were. He seemed pretty upset when he realized he'd forgotten his date with you last night, especially when he found out that you were missing."

Flora's bonde pixy Chatta copied Tecna's frown and crossed arms.

"We've all been worried sick about you."

Musa frowned right back at them.

"Well if you were so worried about me why didn't you just call me on my cell?"

Stella clapped her hands together and pasted a delighted smile on her face. Her words dripped with sarcasm.

"Why what a simply marvelous idea! Why ever didn't we think of that ourselves? Let's try that right now."

She pulled out her own cell phone and dialed. A moment later the notes of the song "Supernova Girl" came from Tecna's direction. Tecna pulled the ringing cell phone out of her pocket and answered it.

"Hello. You've reached Musa's cell. This is Tecna speaking."

"Hello Tecna dahling. It's Stella. Have you by any chance seen Musa around anywhere? She's gone missing and we're all just so worried about her."

"Why yes, as a matter of fact, I have. She's standing right in front of me this very moment turning beet red."

Musa snatched her cell phone back from Tecna's hand.

"Gimme that!"

She turned it off and stared at it.

"I coulda sworn I had it on me when I left for my date last night."

Flora got up from the couch and came over to lay a hand on Musa's arm.

"So where did you go last night Musa?"

Musa sighed and looked up to meet Flora's gaze.

"Well, when Riven stood me up last night I got kinda bummed. I knew you guys were out partying and I didn't wanna be a wet blanket and bring you all down, but I didn't really wanna hang around here all alone until you guys got back either. I knew Layla was home so I went to see her."

Bloom nodded at that.

"That's right. I remember when we asked Layla if she wanted to come along last night she said she was kinda tired and just wanted to veg. So you spent the night at Layla's?"

Musa leaned back against the back of an armchair and nodded.

"Yep. That's right. We hung out and talked for a while, then I got to feeling pretty tired so Layla talked me into crashing there for the night."

Tecna frowned at her roommate accusingly.

"But why didn't you call and let us know where you were?"

Musa frowned back at her.

"Well I didn't exactly have my cell phone with me, now did I?"

Tecna held up an accusatory finger.

"Which you didn't realize until just moments ago, which proves that you didn't even try to call us or you would have known."

Musa glared back defensively.

"Alright, so I forgot! So what about you guys? You thought to call Riven to check up on me but you never thought to check with Layla?"

Stella gestured off-handedly.

"Actually we were just gonna do that when you came sneaking back in all secretive like."

Tecna's bonded pixy Digit hovered near Tecna's shoulder with a suspicious look on her face.

"Seems like rather suspicious behavior for someone who just accidently forgot to let anyone know she had a last-minute change in plans."

Hovering near Flora, Chatta pointed an accusing finger at Musa.

"That's right! I think you're hiding something!"

Flora turned her head to look at the little pixy.

"Chatta ..."

Musa stood up straight and made an angry, dismissive sweeping gesture with her arm.

"You know, whatever! I don't need this third degree! I'm going to my room to call Riven and let him know he can stop worrying about me."

As Musa stormed off to her room Tune glanced at the others apologeticly and followed after. Stella glanced around at the others as the door closed behind them.

"Well, that went well. So, who's up for breakfast?"
