Capture

Hello everybody!!! Um...before you read my story let's get some things down. I do not own the Avatar. Also this is a SOKKA/ZUKO fic. The reason for this is because 1.I like yaoi and 2.I'm tired of seeing Zuko/Katara fics. I have nothing against them, but there needs to be something new and there isn't enough of this pairing so this is the result. Well I'm done so you can read the story now.

Chapter 1

Sokka groaned loudly as he was thrown roughly into a cramped cell landing against the wall with a loud thud. The Water Tribesman looked up, his vision hazy from the throbbing pain that was going through his body, as he tried to focus on the three blurry figures standing before him. He felt his body grow heavy from weariness and his vision began fading and then everything went black.

Sokka woke up with a start and he frantically looked around the dark cell in panic.

“Wha—What happened? Where am I?”

Sokka ran a hand through his hair trying to remember the last thing before passing out, but everything had been a blur and it hurt his head to think that hard. He sighed and rested against the wall and pulled his knees to his chest.

“Why does this have to happen to me?” he muttered bitterly. He sat in silence for a few minutes contemplating his situation when the door to his cell opened and light flooded the room blinding Sokka for a few seconds.

“Who’s there?” he asked quickly as he lifted his hand to block the light from his eyes and tried to make out the silhouette figure standing a few feet in front of him.

The person stepped into the small cell followed by three other men behind him. He raised his hand and a bright flame encircled it lighting up his face.

“Zhao,” gasped Sokka as he recognized the firebender.

“I see you know who I am. That’s good because now I don’t have to waste time explaining everything to you,” spoke Zhao with a smug smirk on his face.

“What do you want with me?” asked Sokka as he tried to press himself further into the wall.

“Simple, I want the Avatar.”

“If you haven’t noticed I’m not the Avatar and he’s obviously not here,” replied Sokka coldly. “So why don’t you let me go?”

“I don’t think so. You are probably the only person besides your bratty sister who knows that Avatar. We could have captured her, but she is a waterbender and could have posed a problem so we captured you instead and with you here I’m betting he will show up in a few days to rescue you.”

Sokka scowled at this, but did not reply. So Zhao had done some research before capturing him. That was all well and good, but what Zhao did not know was that he had promised Aang and Katara that if he ever was captured to continue the journey without him. Of course there had been many protests which he listened to silently, but when the two young benders realized that the Water Tribe teen was not going to change his mind they had settled into a somber silence. They never bothered to question his decision and he was happy about that. He didn’t want either of them to worry much about it and he certainly didn’t want to put both of them in danger because he had been stupid enough to get caught.

Zhao seemed to notice the sudden change in his captive’s mood and said, “I’ll leave you to think. Don’t even bother escaping because I have guards all over the ship who are quite experienced in firebending and will not hesitate to burn you.”

Sokka looked away and Zhao turned, indicating for the guards to follow him. The door shut behind them leaving the blue-eyed boy in the dark once again.

***********

Katara sobbed loudly as she sat at the back end of Appa’s saddle while Aang flew the giant bison through the clouds. Finally after a few minutes of flying and Katara’s crying he decided that it was time to stop for the night. He landed on what looked like a deserted island and hopped off Appa’s head.

“Katara, you need to pull yourself together. We have a long journey ahead of us and we need to be prepared.”

“Don’t you think I know that Aang,” replied Katara sulkily. “It’s just that Sokka is…gone. How can we just continue without him? I feel like I’m betraying him.”

Aang looked at the ground sadly and said, “I know…I feel that way too, but we made a promise to Sokka and we have to respect it. Even though he may not look it, Sokka is strong and can take care of himself. Besides I’m sure we’ll see him again.”

Katara was silent for a few minutes before saying, “I guess you’re right, Aang. Sokka can take care of himself. Besides we don’t have a lot of time left to teach you the rest of the elements so e have to hurry. Sokka will just have to catch up later.”

Aang smiled sadly and said, “You’re right. Let’s continue flying for the night. We’ll make good distance and time.”

Aang climbed back on Appa’s head and with a clear ‘Yip Yip’, the giant bison took to the sky and clouds once again.
