Tomorrow
Hello! This story's takes place the day before Aang goes and attempts to defeat the Fire Lord.
Disclaimer:I don't own Avatar...tear, or the term "yoink" from the Simpsons.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aang sat quietly by the river as Sokka and Katara set up camp. Appa was taking a drink, and Momo was stealing some fish that Sokka caught earlier that day. He stared down at the flowing river and his reflection, with thousands of thoughts rushing through his head. What if I fail? How can I possibly just go to the Fire Palace and take Ozai by surprise? What would happen to Sokka and Katara... Aang immediatley just realized he was putting the two people he cared for more than anyone in danger. He looked up, with tears about to fall from his big, grey eyes.
Katara was setting up to prepare stewed seaprunes, since the attempts to make fried fish failed. Sokka was rambling on and on of how they could possibly survive with Momo "yoinking" all of the food. Sokka stamped off to blow some steam, and headed into the woods. A couple of minutes ago Aang was tuning out his surroundings, drowing in his own worries. But he couldn't stand blocking the world from him anymore. The weight on his shoulders reached to a maximum, and Aang involuntarily broke into tears.
The sniffles weren't very loud, or that noticible for that matter. But Katara was feeling just as sad as Aang was, and she could sense when the poor Avatar was in pain. She looked up and saw Aang snuggling with Appa, in a fedle posistion. Katara immediatley stopped what she was doing and quietly approached the troubled child.
Lightly tapping his shoulder, she said softly, "Aang?"
Aang stopped sniffling and looked up to the love of his life. Her cerulean eyes were filled with much worry, and by the looks of it, she cried recently too. "Oh, Katara. I'm so sorry I'm putting you through all of this. I mean, what if I fail tomorrow? What would happen to you? What if the Fire Natio...:"
"Aang! Don't talk like that!",Katara cried with a mixture of anger and sadness, "I know you won't dissappoint anyone, and I know you can save the world, you've been working as hard as you could for months now. You can win, I believe in you." She sat down beside him and wrapped her arms around his back and chest. Katara rested her head against Aang's and pecked him on the cheek.
The blood quickly rushed to Aang's face. "I'm sorry, I just worry for you..." Aang lifted his head to see Katara's beautiful face. Her cheeks were soaked in tears, although Katara tried to hide it. Their faces were merely an inch apart, and it was easy to see both of them haven't had a moment's happiness all day. "Katara, whatever happens, I just want you to know that...I have and always..." Aang quickly turned his gaze to his feet, he felt the bloodrushing to his face again.
"Always what?" Katara asked. She snuggled her face against Aang's head. A few awkward minutes passed, and neither one of them budged a bit.
The young Avatar felt his courage once again, and finally he made eye contact with his true love, his soul mate, his water that gives him life. "Katara, ever since I first saw you I fell in love with you. I will always love very truly and deeply, no matter what happens. I just wanted you to know that before I..." Aang stopped his train of thought, he knew he didn't have to say anymore.
Katara quickly stood up and looked down at him. Aang's faced was filled with dissappointment and anguish; after all he felt rejection. "Aang!", Katara screamed, "Why didn't you tell me earlier!" Her face was just leaking with tears and turned red. Aang just stared at her sadly, not knowing how to reply. "Oh Aang, if you have, both of us couldn't have the horrible feeling of doubt, we could've had time..."
Aang's eyes were wide with shock. He was absolutley dumbfounded. "Katara...I thought you said I wasn't going to fail..."
"I never said you weren't going to fail!" She sat back down, but kept her eyes locked to the ground. "I just mean that we could've had more time than we are now to...well...know the truth."
"Aang..." Katara looked up at and saw that the happiness in his grey eyes have shattered. "Oh my Aang...I didn't mean to hurt you at all. I'm only upset at myself for not telling you earlier."
Aang's face was filled with question, the wise young Avatar had no experience in this field and had no idea what was going to happen between them.
"I love you too, Aang."
The avatar's eyes grew twice it's size and his steading breathing was turning into choppy gasps."But I thought you...and what about...huh!Is that wha..." Aang's jibberish was cut off by Katara quickly pressing her lips against his. She wrapped her arms around him again and sqeezed tightly, never wanting to let go.Aang sqeezed her just as hard, and started kissing back. Katara opened her mouth a bit and let Aang's tounge travel inside. They moaned in unison and kept kissing passionately until Katara ran out of breath. She tried to catch her breath back as fast as she could, so she could continue this perfect moment. However, it quickly dawned on her that she was only distracting Aang and making him lose his focus for tomorrow.
"Aang..."
He leaned forward to kiss her again, but she backed away a few inches. Aang was very heartbroken, and was so confused. There were too many mixed signals going on.
"No Aang. I can't. But please don't feel sad. It's not what you think..."
Aang airbended himself up and grabbed his glider. As fast as he opened it, Katara tackled him to the ground even faster.
"Ow..."
"Sorry...",she giggled a little, and this was the first smile she made all day. Even though Aang felt rejection, her smile made him grin and lifted his spirits.
"I'm trying to tell you that...if we continue like this, I'm afraid you'll lose your focus for your duel tomorrow."
Aang immediatley felt guilty for what his behavior. He completely understood now. And no matter how much it hurt him to accept it, he had to wait to be with his love for another time.
Katara was still lying on top of him, and they both realized this and madly blushed at the fact."One more kiss won't hurt though...", she whispered, and they both started widly kissing and playing with each other's tounges.Katara didn't care for the bulge she felt against her lower abdomen, after all, she does want to feel it later. Aang's hands traveled lower and lower down her back...
"WHAT THE FUCK!"
The couple froze, they knew very well who's voice it was.
"I LEAVE FOR 10 MINUTES AND THIS IS WHAT I FIND WHEN I COME BACK! AANG, GET YOUR HANDS THE HELL AWAY FROM MY SISTER!"
They quickly stood up and Katara ran to Sokka. "Sokka, I..."
"Don't even start Katara...", Sokka said. His face looked like a cherry with two blue bruises, it was actually quite comical. She tried to surpress her laughter but Sokka had better ears than any normal person would think. "Katara, you know damn well that isn't funny at all. Let Aang focus on his duel for tomorrow! Damnit!"
"I know Sokka, I even told Aang that a few minutes ago. But we love each other..."
Sokka's face softened, he knew there was no point in arguing with his baby sister, especially about love. "I know Katara..." he said quietly."But Aang, I don't want to see any of this shit again."
"Ok...sorry Sokka", Aang said meekly.
Sokka walked to the river to wash his face off, and Katara quickly rushed to Aang.
"Don't worry", she whispered in his ear "we can still sneak into the forest later tonight when he's asleep."
Aang looked at her with a huge grin on his face.
"Just because we have to wait until another time, doesn't mean I can't do anything to you", Katara whispered seductively. Aang felt a stirring again, and nodded his head. He was definitley going to bea different person in the morning.
