Amongst the Pain

This fic is based during The Ultimate Enemy movie. I changed it around though, so that Danny does end up moving in with Vlad and his family and friends do die in the explosion. All I can say is enjoy!

Chapter 1

Danny Fenton rode alone, silently, in a sleek black car. He sighed and felt emotion threatening to overwhelm him. His family, his friends, all gone. Danny turned and rested his head against the cool tainted window. He saw the darkening countryside slip quickly by through blurred vision as tears welled up in his eyes.
“Why couldn’t I get there in time?” He breathed, a cloud of mist forming in front of him. Then just as quickly, it dissolved. “Why couldn’t I save them?” he whispered.
Danny felt the car begin to slow and wiped the tears off his face with a trembling hand. He looked out to see Vlad Master’s looming mansion sliding into view. How he hated the place. How he hated the man. A fire burned inside his stomach, but he tried to hide his fury as the car slowed to a stop. He saw Vlad Masters outside his window, looking in with a sympathetic smile. Danny knew he couldn’t see him, but inside he still cringed like a coward.
The car driver got out and popped the trunk, taking out Danny’s few belongings. Some clothes, a pillow, Jazz’s bear, and a photo. Danny remained sitting, looking sadly at the picture. Maddie, Jack, Jazz, Tucker, Sam, and himself all stood outside of his house, all with broad smiles lighting up their faces. Danny stood between his family and friends, arms linked between his father and Tucker. He had a mischievous glint in his eye; Sam’s eyes were lit up playfully. He looked deep into the pools of violet. How he would miss her. Danny felt an ache in his heart, and got out of the car.
Danny felt his eyes wander to the ground; he did not want to look at his enemy, even though he was so much like himself.
He heard Vlad whisper, “So here’s Daniel. I’ve been expecting you.” His voice was low and smooth. Danny realized that Vlad was trying to comfort him. Danny looked up into Vlad’s cool blue eyes. His eyes were something special. They were deep ocean water blue, but if you looked closely, you could see flecks of green mixed in. Danny could drown in his eyes, but he forced himself to tear away from that unwavering gaze. Danny looked again at the picture.
“Let’s go inside, Daniel.” Vlad said, addressing him.
“Alright.” Danny murmured, tucking the picture away.
He heard a crunch of gravel as the car began to pull away into the depths of the forest. Danny’s legs felt like lead, but he forced them to begin walking towards the manor.
“Alright.” He whispered again, as they reached the heavy oak doors that lead into his new home.
