One more kiss could be the best thing
But one more lie could be the worst
And all these thoughts are never resting
And you're not something I deserve
Emily lay in her satin red coffin bed. Her blue hair was splayed out like a fan, crystal tears cascading over her cold cheeks.
“If I did the right thing why is it that I feel so badly.” She wept.
Ms. Widow lowered herself onto the coffins edge.
“There there deary, don’t cry everything will be alright.”
“Oh Ms. Widow, I really did love him…At first I just wanted to have someone of my own, but then…” Emily wiped her tears with the hem of her mothers dress. “Victor…”
“You did the right thing deary, never doubt that. The dead were never meant to be among the living, it just doesn’t work that way.”
“I know…I just wish that I had met him while I was alive…maybe then I could have found happiness..”
“Aye, but you’re not sweetie, best to just let him go…”
*****
In my head there's only you now
This world falls on me
In this world there's real and make believe
And this seems real to me

“I’m so confused Maggot… Victoria is so beautiful, and she loves me…we’re married now…Why aren’t I happy?”
“Beats me, I never did understand you humans and you’re emotions…but if you ask me, that Victoria is one hot cookie, I’d love to get my teeth into her …yum…”
Victor had no doubt that he meant this in the most literal sense. Victor balled up his fist and slammed it on the banister of the balcony.
“I’ve already made my choice…what reason do I have to have second thoughts now?”
“Victor Darling, will you fetch me my night gown?” Victoria called from the bathroom.
“Of course D-d-dear…” Victor was still adjusting to calling her that. He grabbed her night gown and handed it to her as she reached out for it. He then returned to the balcony.
“I need to clear my mind…Victoria I’m going for a walk I’ll be back shortly…”
“Alright sweetie.”
Victor grabbed his coat and allowed maggot to crawl onto his shoulder. As he passed through the long row of Paintings that depicted each of Victoria’s ancestors he felt as though he were being watched…and perhaps he was, he no longer denied the existence of ghosts.
He could here the snores of his new In-Laws as he descended the long stair case. He slipped out quietly into the dark cool night. The town was deserted with the exception of the occasional alley cat. Shops were closed up and shades drawn, everyone was sound asleep, that is, except for the troubled newly wed.
Before he knew it he had crossed the bridge and was heading into the forest.
“It sure is nippy tonight.”

You love me but you don’t know who I am
I'm tore between this life I lead and where I stand
And you love me but you don’t know who I am
So let me go
Let me go

“Why don’t we head over to the bar, I’m sure Head Waiter could fix you up something real nice, make you feel better.”
“I don’t feel like feeling better…” Emily sobbed.
Ms. Spider closed her eight eyes and sighed.
“I know it hurts now deary, but time heals all wounds. Chin up.”
Emily stopped and blinked.
“What is it dear?”
“Someone is at my grave.”
“Who would be out on such a cold night?”
*****
I dream ahead to what I hope for
And I turn my back on loving you
How can this love be a good thing
When I know what I'm goin through
