Zim sighed. It had been a week since he had come to the Membrane reisidence. Dib had made a habbit of going off whenever possible and Zim just knew he was up to something, being confined to his house though, made it hard to find out what he was doing. Not to mention, whenever Zim tried to follow Dib, Gir would always yell out to him, waving happily. Finally Zim gave up going after him, content to wait and find out when the time came....
Hands came around Zim's back and gently stroked his anteanna. "Guess who." A voice growled, disguised slightly so that it was deeper.
Zim sighed. "Hello Dib." he turned around, letting Dib play with his antenna. They had reached a silent agreement, Zim would let Dib play with his antenna as thanks for bringing him Gir. Dib still wouldn't let him have his PAK but that was to be expected. After all it held his metal spider legs, and almost unlimited weapons and amunition.
"Time for your breakfast... you'll never guess what it is." This was something they went through every morning. Gir had been left in charge of breakfast and he always made the same thing... waffles.
Dib grinned, bringing out his waffles in an exagerated display. He then noticed Zim's expressin and bent his head to look into Zim's crimson eyes. "What's wrong?" He asked curiously.
Zim sighed again. "I'm not bored," He said softly, anteanna drooping. "Gir's seen to that. But I'm tired of seeing these walls all the time. There are only so many times I can look at....well....ME without getting tired of it." Although Dib had begun taking down the pictures of Zim, there were still alot left, staring at him every night, taunting him. He had realized, as he had looked at them time and time again, that he had been really mean to Dib. He would never admit it but it filled him with an unfamiler feeling that made him feel like he was being filled with lead-filled gas. It wore him down and made him restless and uneasy. The feeling, though he didn't know what it was called, was guilt.
Dib thought for a second then nodded. "Your right. It's no good if your cooped up here."
Zim nearly pinched himself to see if he was dreaming.
"You need to get out... but we have to get you a new disguise."
Zim was about to protest that his old one was ingenious and perfect but at that moment, Dib grabbed his arm and he found himself following him down the hall to his sister's room. He blanched at he realized that Dib was going to show him to his sister. He stuggled hard, trying to break free but Dib's grip was too strong and the more he tried to free himself, the tighter Dib held on.
A knock on the door and heavy footsteps were heard. Gaz opened the door and slipped outside, looking from her brother to Zim. "So," She stated. "You finally caught Zim good job. Now can you leave me alone?"
Dib shook his head. "He needs a better disguise." he said matter-o-factly. "can you help him get one so he wont' be noticed?"
Gaz leaned against the doorframe, gazing at her brother levely. "I can." She said, a small smirk lighting on her lips. "But it's gonna cost you. Do my chores tonight and I'll do it."
Dib nodded. "done."
Before Zim knew what was happening, he had been dragged into Gaz's room and the door was locked, sending him into a dimly lit room alone with Gaz. He looked around, grinning idly at her things. He saw that the stuffed animals had wiers coming out of them and were probably robotic weapons. Somehow it didn't surprise him. Feeling a shiver run down his spine, he turned to see Gaz looking at him intently. Finally she snapped her fingers and went over to her closet, pulling out a pair of jeans. "Put these on." She commanded.
Forcing himself to obey without a sarcastic remark, he put them on, not noticing how closly Gaz was watching him. When his pants were off Gaz stopped him, half naked. He pulled down his long shirt, flushing slightly at this. Gaz looked at him curiously. "What gender are you?" She asked incrediously. "Male or female?"
Zim laughed slightly. "You inferior humans. We can be either at anytime."
Gaz seemed to ask how but then decided she didn't want to know. "Whatever." She said, his face expressionless. "Put these on under them." She threw him a pair of her brother's boxers. (Blackmail iteam)
Zim did and reveled at how much nicer they felt than his invader uniform. Taking off his shirt also, he waited for her to go to her closet again, but she shook her head. "Nope, for your shirt, we need my brother's stuff."
Zim followed as Gaz lead the way to her brother's room, pushing past him roughly to get to his closet, digging around she found what she was looking for. As she brought it out Zim stared at her with an outraged expression.
It was black with a picture of an alien, looking remarkably like Zim, on the front. Under it were the words 'Aliens Exist.' in neon green letters.
Zim leered at her. "Are you trying to get me in a test tube?" He snarled at her.
Gaz didn't bat an eye. "Humans are dumb. If you hold the truth in front of their nose, they won't notice it. Besides, there are lots of people with pink hair, tatoos, and other stupid things. Do you really think people are going to notice you?"
Zim slumped, realizing with a jolt that she was right. Dib seemed to be thinking the same thing because he looked at her with a sudden 'Duh' expression. taking the shirt he put it on, looking down at himself and liking the feeling of it instead of his tight uniform.
Z movement caught his eyes as Dib motioned for him to follow. He got up and curiously followed Dib down the stairs. When he opened the front door however, Zim held back. Without his disguise he felt weak, naked, vulnerable.
Dib rolled his eyes. "Come on." He said impatiently.
Zim hesitantly took a deep breath and held his head high, walking out the door into the human world. The same world he had been in for the past few years... only this time without his disguise.
