Runaways

About a week and a half had passed.

"Let's run away together."

Megami was lying back against him, soft head on his chest. His fingers were buried in her hair. "What are you saying? Silly, we've already run away together."

"No. I mean..." Vermeil pushed her off of him and turned her head so that they were looking eye to eye. "Let's forget about all of this shit we're doing now. Let's just run away somewhere... Just you and me..."

"Vermeil--"

"Okay, GIR too."

"What are you talking about?" Tilting her head a little, she went on, "I'm two days away from reaching my mother, and you just want me to--give up?"

How dumb was he to make such a suggestion? Licking his lips, Vermeil recanted. "I-- I didn't mean it Meg. Just... Ignore me." He quickly got to his feet and strode away, looking out the window into deep space.

"Verm--??"

A ringing sound resounded throughout the cabin. "My clothes are here!" Vermeil turned and left the room as if it were the most exciting event he'd ever encountered.

Meg sat for a spell on the futon, staring blankly at the doorway Vermeil had just exited. What was he trying to get at? All this time he kept spouting off about how he wanted her to know the truth, how he was going to help her... Why had his attitude suddenly changed? Was it all just a ruse to get her to give him head?

Laughing to herself, Megami thought about what a silly idea that was... He obviously had a bigger purpose in mind if he let her drag him across the universe. Maybe he was tired of looking. She thought back to some of their earlier conversations. He had spent a lot of his childhood moving from place to place... The space travel was probably really starting to get to him.

The Prince reentered the room sporting a new bodysuit, deep crimson in color. It zipped all the way from his neck to his crotch, and was skin-tight. She flushed.

"How do I look?" Vermeil asked, grinning stupidly. He knew he looked amazing; he just wanted to embarrass her.

"Did you just... have that delivered?"

Nodding, Vermeil said, "I've had this for awhile. Actually, it's a little tighter than it was before..."

Meg was confused. "Where did you have it shipped from? Home?"

"Veloixs," Verm answered. "I guess you could call it home. I had someone send it..."

There was a small part of Meg that felt envious, maybe even angry. It didn't occur to her that he might still be in contact with anyone. Especially after he had admonished her for checking HER mail.

She was pretty bad at hiding her emotions, though. "What's wrong, Nymph?"

After a calming breath, she finally said, "If... you want to go back home... I... can find another way to reach my parents."

"And how exactly is that?" Vermeil asked, crossing his slender arms. "You can't panhandle in space."

Megami stood, really beginning to feel angry. "I was just trying to be nice! You... You're the one that started this whole thing anyway! You're the one that brought me out here!"

"I brought you out here because you had no choice." She opened her mouth to speak, but he held out a finger and shushed her. "Trust me, Megami. You had no choice."

"You're right. I don't have any choice. For the rest of my life I'm going to have everyone else making my decisions for me, right? Membrane, Gaz, you... I might as well be dead!" Her final statement was one of desperation at her own plight... But she was surprised to see the intense pain that grew on Vermeil's face. Looking as if he himself might die, he walked towards her, stopping a moment mid-stride, and then finally grabbing the sides of her head, gently.

Falling forward, he pressed his forehead against hers, closing his eyes. "You think I have any choice? Everything I do is dictated by others... Everything. That's why I want to take you and run away forever where nobody will find us."

Calming down a little, Megami whispered, "What... are you going to do when I finally find my parents?"

"If I'm lucky? Die."

She wished she could understand him. Reaching for any explanation she could, she asked, "Do you think... I'm just using you? That I'm going to abandon you when this is all said and done?" Making him look her in the eyes, she stated resolutely, "No, Vermeil. I'm in love with you. I love you and you're the best thing to ever happen to me and I want you to be with me forever and--"

Vermeil captured her lips brutally. Pushing her head to the side, he buried his face in her neck and nearly crushed her soft body in his arms. "You're wrong, Megami. I'm the worst thing that has ever happened to you. I'm the worst thing that has ever happened to all of the people I love. Do you understand? Where I go, people die."

"It's not your fault a human killed your family."

He laughed against her skin. A pitiful, aching laugh. "You don't know the half of it, Megami. You don't know."

"Vermeil--!"

"I want you to moan for me," he growled, pushing her back onto the futon. He began to suck hungrily on the skin at her neck, grabbing the front of her pants and slipping a long finger past the waist.

Though she accepted his attentions, she was too concerned to be aroused. "Vermeil...." she whispered, "I'm confused."

Not bothering to look up, Vermeil hissed, "You and I, Megami. Let us both hurtle towards our destiny. Nothing can stop us now, can it? So we shouldn't squander the time we have."

"I'm excited about the future. But you're not..."

He unzipped her pants, pushing his hand down until it was cupping the soft mound between her legs. "You have hair down there, too?"

"Vermeil..."

"You don't live a life such as mine without a healthy amount of fear for the future," Vermeil conceded. His face was quite serious. "Don't let my bitterness ruin you."

Such a pretty pout on her face. "I don't want you to be bitter anymore."

Kissing her pouty lips away, Vermeil commanded, "Then moan for me."

Pushing her pants down just far enough, he slid the tip of his finger inside of her. She blushed and tried to close her legs, but as he was between them there wasn't much she could do. "Vermeil... Aaah!" Grinning wide, he inserted a second finger, pressing down against her inner walls.

"Mmm. Your Caress are nice."

"That's--what those things are in there?" Megami covered her face, arching her back. "Aaaah...!" She felt as if she were about to explode...

With his other hand, Vermeil pulled the tip of one of her antenna into his mouth, then let it spring back. "You didn't know? Humans must not have them. Unlucky for them." Deep inside herself, she could feel him flicking them back and forth, pressing and rubbing them.

"They... have these," she breathed, spreading her labia and revealing her swollen clit. Rubbing it, she whispered, "This is nice too."

He caught on immediately, bringing his other hand to take over for hers. Though he wasn't as experienced with the external part of the equation, his skill with the internal brought her to orgasm in mere moments. She howled and clamped her legs together over his arms, and he laughed at how sweet she looked.

Breaking free from between her thighs and wrapping his arms around her, he rolled until she was lying atop him. "So beautiful, so sweet, so innocent," he rumbled into her hair. For a short while, he let her antennae rub against his. They had connected in such a way many times since that first, but they hadn't been intimate since. Feeling Megami post-orgasm was something Vermeil had longed for.

"I didn't forget," she said after a time had passed.

Rubbing her back and playing with her little wings, Vermeil said, "Hmm?"

"About what we were just talking about. I didn't forget."

"Oh, damn. I had."

Megami sighed, "Liar. I can feel all the fear and sadness inside you..."

This was the first time she had explicitly mentioned what she felt when they connected. Vermeil's face became hot. "Well... It's not because of you. So... don't worry... about it."

"I will worry about it, though."

You'll worry less than if I were to tell you the truth. So let it be. "Maybe someday you and I... can be happy together." Now that most definitely was a lie.

Smiling up into Verm's eyes, Megami said, "I'm sure of it!"

That makes one of us...

******************************

The day arrived when their goal had been reached. Megami hopped in place as they spied something out of the corner of the main computer's viewer.

"That's what Zim had us head for?" Vermeil asked GIR. "Looks like a satellite." The small station was hovering close to what Megami surmised was a planet. Or maybe a moon.

"That's Herrrrr!" GIR cried. "Haveta hail her now or she'll shoot at us." He punched some buttons and some beeping sounds issued from the console. A few moments passed and GIR began to hum. "Answer the phooooooone. Answerdaphoneanswerdaphoneanswer da phooooone. No! You can't make me!" Tap Tap Tap. "Answer da phoooone."

"You think she's gone?" Megami asked Vermeil anxiously.

Suddenly, a staticky female voice: "State your purpose."

Megami was speechless for a moment; Vermeil nudged her and she squeaked, "Is... My mother there?"

Silence reigned for a moment, then the voice said, "Nobody's mother here. Must have the wrong address."

"Wait!"

"Whoever you are, I don't care to play games. Leave now or I'll force you to leave."

"I'm not playing games," Megami cried, voice quivering. "I... I'm looking for my mother and I was told I could find her here." Wringing her hands, she finished, "Please..."

"Who sent you?"

"Um... His name is Zim."

A guffaw. "Fucking... ZIM? Oh... Oh, you must be joking. Why?"

"I told you... He said I could find my mother here."

After a moment, the voice replied somewhat quietly, "You sound very young... What's your name?"

"M.... Megami."

"Zim isn't with you, is he?"

"No. But... I do have someone with me..." She looked hopefully at Vermeil and grabbed his hand.

"Are you Irken?" Vermeil asked.

She didn't answer. "As long as Zim isn't with you, you can dock. Put your ship in neutral and I'll pull you in."

Megami didn't know what to expect as they settled up against the satellite... Their ship was almost bigger than it was, but everything seemed to be kept in immaculate condition. In case of emergency, they left GIR at the deck of the ship, but she felt no real danger.

"She said she's not anybody's mother, Vermeil," Meg worried. "What if Zim was wrong?"

"Maybe she's denying it until she meets you," Vermeil said quietly, betraying no emotion. He rubbed his palms on his pants as they stood near the main entryway and waited. As the door to the station began to slide open, Meg wrapped her upper arms around Vermeil's bicep, squeezing tightly.

In the doorway stood an Irken, a small robot about GIR's size next to her. She was short, barely taller than Megami, and her eyes were deep violet. Meg couldn't help but think she was beautiful, but she had a detached look about her. As she laid eyes on Megami, however, she brightened a little.

"My God, it really is you." Her robot beeped and she waved the two of them into her abode.
