It was now early afternoon. Snively was currently laying back on the hardwood bench in the makeshift brig. It might not have been the best jail ever built, but it was better than being enslaved by the two fools that were back in Robotropolis. The additional factor was that the freedom fighters wouldn't execute him because he had too much valuable information that they needed. He then heard voices from beyond the door.
"I thought the king ordered you to be turned off," the guard said.
"He did, but Princess rescinded those orders," Sentinal informed.
"Yeah, so let us in so we can question that human," Shadow growled. The guard sighed and let the two in. He wouldn't get caught in the middle of some struggle between the king and his daughter.

'Who the hell is this? I didn't think that the echidna race still thrived somewhere on this worthless ball of mud.' Snively thought seeing the echidna coming in. To his horror, he saw a black hedgehog with him. 'Not another one!'
"Jonathan 'Snively' Kantaberry," Sentinal started before lifting the overlander up by the collar of his shirt and pressed him up against the wall. "You're going to tell me everything you know about the roboticizer, all the weaknesses of your uncle's city, and why Naugus is working with your uncle, you piece of egg sucking gutter trash."
"I don't have to answer to you. You'll never be able to get me to talk because I don't have any motivation to." Snively replied with a grin on his face. "Besides, if I know Naugus like I do, he's probably going to call in Mammoth Mogul."
"Mammoth Mogul!" Sentinal growled and extended his claws. "See these? These are made out of an alloy called 'adamantium'. Durasteel can't hold up against it and neither can human flesh, so you better tell me everything you know." Sentinal growled threateningly. Snively whimpered as the cold metal came dangerously close to his nose.
'Where did they find him?!? I hate my life.' Snively bemoaned in his head.

A heavy transport ship landed. Naugus smiled in glee while Robotnik stood looking quite worried. The side hatch opened to reveal Mammoth Mogul.
"Lord Mogul," Naugus said bowing.
"I see you haven't finished the job, Naugus," Mogul said annoyed.
"There's a new problem. General Charlie is back," Naugus began.
"Charlie!" Mammoth Mogul exploded. "So, the last of the echidnas is back. I shall will with him personally."

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Sally was visiting the resident spy, Sir Charles Hedgehog.
"Sally, this is unexpected. What are you doing here?" Sir Charles asked. This was an unscheduled visit. He hadn't sent any messages to Knothole, so something was up.
"I need to know how to get through that triple reinforced durasteel plated head that my father has on his shoulders," Sally said after taking a seat. "You're his closest friend. How do I get him to understand?"
"What has he done now?" the old roboticized hedgehog asked. Sally goes into detail about her father's blatant disapproval of her and Sonic's relationship, the constant questioning of her tactics in fighting this never ending war, and the recent return from the dead of a legend.
How close are you and that nephew of mine?" Charles asked when Sally had finished her explanation.
"We've been a little distant for some time. I've had more suitors come by at the behest of my father than I'd like to have seen. I'm not sure how Sonic controlled his jealousy."
"Do you want to be his life mate?"
Sally bit her lip. She hadn't ever answered that question directly, but maybe it was about time to do so.
Taking a breath she answered, "Yes."
Uncle Chuck let out a sigh and shook his head. He thought that that was what was going to be her answer.
"Well, here's one more family secret for you. Brace yourself, you're not going to like it."
"What are you talking about?"
"Have you ever wondered where that boy gets his incredible speed from?"
"Yes."
"It wasn't by random chance I can tell you that. Sonic's parents volunteered for a secret project that involved genetically engineering a living weapon. Sonic's birth was the product of years of research and work."
"You mean to tell me..."
"The project was started due to the fact that we were losing the war. We hoped to create a super soldier in order to turn the tide. He was given most of his special abilities while in the womb. The second phase never got off the ground due to the fact that Julian turned against the overlanders.
"So you let him grow up as a normal child that has incredible speed. Is that why father is so adamant about keeping me away from Sonic, because he was a genetically made Mobian?"
"There's something else. These super soldiers were to be made to not be able to betray the crown. A lot of that is instilled in him now, but it isn't loyalty to your father...,it's loyalty to you."
"What? How?"
"It happened when the two of you accidentally met for the first time that day. I didn't realize what would happen when he would first lay his eyes on you. The genetic programming called for him to be loyal to the first Acorn he would see. That wasn't the best programming, I admit, but I wasn't directly involved with what was going to be put in him to make him loyal to the crown."
"So his love for me is...?" Sally started to ask disconcertingly.
"No!" Charles emphatically answered, "The genetic programming was to only make him loyal to your orders. His feelings come from somewhere deeper inside of him. His love for you is true, if not made more intense by the loyalty he has for you. That's probably why he gets so jealous whenever another male appears to be too close to you."
"So, his feelings are true?"
"Yes."
"So because he was going to be a tool for the Great War I'm not supposed to love him? Well, I'll deal with this right now." Sally said beginning to power walk out of Sir Charles's hideout. However, the roar of an engine stopped her. Chuck came over and the two saw the large transport land and a person stepped out to be treated by Robotnik and Naugus.
"Who?" Sally asked her fur bristling slightly.
"Get back to Knothole Sally. I'll check it out," the spy said.
"Be careful," Sally said and left.
"I will," he said. 'Order help us if this is someone worse than Naugus.' He sighed and wished his friend would get the stick that was up his furred ass out of there. Sonic and Sally were the future, he and King Acorn were the past.
