Our Present to the Future
PART 6
After showing them all the campus, Futura led her guests to the Kong Administrative Building where she introduced them to the school’s headmaster. He treated them with the same awestruck reverence as everybody else.
When he finally got the handshaking and blubbering out of his system, he asked them if they’d be willing to do him a big favor. “We have an assembly scheduled for today. I was going to speak to the students, but I think they would appreciate it more if they could ask questions of you. And the faculty would enjoy it as well.”
They agreed and followed him to the Barrett Center. Once inside, they took a moment to laugh at the artwork depicting them. It was ludicrous to them that they should be painted and sculpted as if they were Zeus or Athena. They found the whole thing hilarious and Futura admitted that having known them and how down to earth they were, she couldn’t take these overly pompous works seriously either. But there was one piece that made them all stop in their tracks. It was the former portrait of Vigo the Carpathian which now depicted the four New Yorker Ghostbusters and Oscar as a baby. “I can’t believe that thing still exists,” Ray murmured in awe.
Once they’d had their fill of looking at the art, Futura led them to where they’d give their discussion. When they entered the room where they were to speak, they found what looked like the entire school gathered together in the largest amphitheater any of them had ever laid eyes on.
“Whoa.” That was all Egon could say. And he was the only one who was able to say anything at all.
“Shall we?” Futura asked.
