Chapter 4
Father vs. Daughter

He looked around, not knowing where he was. He heard a soft, feminine voice calling his name. The voice sounded familiar to him. He saw before him a white fox with blond hair, but he couldn't tell how many tails she had.
"Shadow,"

The black hedgehog sat up abruptly He was shaken and was sweating.
"Maria?" he asked wondering if that was really her voice or was it his mind playing tricks with his heart. He looked at the black pulsing emerald. He looked at as he held it in his hand. A since of purpose washed over him. Doom was dead, but that world held nothing for him, but maybe, just maybe, he could find a purpose here. Standing, he decided to head out and find his echidna partner.

"Remarkable...he is the most remarkable blend of Mobian biology and technology I've ever seen," Rotor said while examining the echidna. "Whoever re-engineered you could teach us a few things," the walrus added.
"I don't understand why you'd have to recharge. Wouldn't normal sleep do the same thing?" Sally asked while looking at the circuitry that was exposed on the left side of his face.
"They integrated the technology so much into me that the biological parts and the technological parts of my body are running off the same power supply. I'm basically a bio-android," Sentinal explained.
"Does he have an off switch?"
Sally turned to see that her father had asked that question. The one problem with Sally having her father back was the fact that he had a bad habit of trying to change any of her plans she would make to either attack a power plant, a SWAT-bot factory, or go on a supply raid.. This led to the two budding heads before and after every single mission, like after last night's supply run.
"Yes, but it's more like a stand-by switch. All functions except his most vital and his regeneration systems would be put into some sort of a waiting mode." Rotor answered hoping Sally's father wouldn't give the order.
"Turn him off," King Acorn ordered Sentinal growled, but Sally put a hand on him..
"Delay that order Rotor," Sally says to the walrus who gladly complied. She put her hands on her hips after turning to her father and got a stern look on her face.
"You're going to let this skeleton continue to rot in our family's closet, father?" she asked.
"He's not the same echidna that helped us in the mage war, Sally. We don't know what else they might have done to him," he answered back.
"You'd think he'd turn on us?" sally asked. "I seriously doubt that."
"He may hold a grudge against that damned Naugus, but we don't know why he was saved from being executed nor do we know why they have sent him back. Rotor, flip the switch." King Acorn ordered. The walrus gave a pleading look to Sally, but she hung her head in defeat. Her father had won this battle. Sentinal growled, but Rotor flipped the switch and he went into stand-by mode.
"It's obvious now where I got my ability to be a good strategist and it's not from the parent that's standing in this room!"" Sally spat out before storming out of Rotor's hut. King Acorn ran after his daughter and Rotor sighed.
"What happened?" Shadow growled, having come through the other door.
"I've had to put him on stand-by," Rotor answered. Shadow went for his guns, but calmed quickly. He wouldn't make a rash move, not yet.

A few hours later, Shadow, Rotor, and Bunnie came into the Walrus's hut where Sentinal was.
"C'mon, let's get movin ' ol' tall and handsome to my hut. Sallygirl's father has gone overboard with that last ol' order," Bunnie said.
"Yeah, we'll reactivate him once we've moved him," Rotor added and Shadow nodded. The three lifted the echidna up and headed quickly out of Rotors for Bunnie's.

"He's heavier than he looks," Rotor grunted as he and Bunnie, along with Shadow, laid Sentinal on the couch Sally nodded after they had gotten him laid upon the couch.
"My father has crossed a line that has forced me to cross a line that I thought I'd never would have to cross. Rotor, turn him on," Sally requested and Rotor complied. Sentinal sat up a moment later and looked around. He saw that he was back in Bunnie's hut.
"What...?" he asked while shaking his head. He hated when he woke up and he found himself in a different place than he was when he'd been put in stand-by mode. It disoriented him and he hated that feeling.
"I apologize for my father's foolishness. He hasn't been the same since we got him back. I think there are effects from being in the void that even Naugus himself didn't know about." Sally explained.
"He doesn't trust me does he?" Sentinal asked.
"No, and I don't know why," Sally answered shaking her head.
"I might ought to head out for Robotropolis myself and finish Naugus off by myself. I could find somewhere far away to stay so that..."
"No, I won't let my father win like that, and I wouldn't want you to do that. My family has a terrible habit of letting skeletons be swept under the rug. I'm bound and determine to not let that happen again with you. You were executed for no good reason. I'm to be the next ruler of Mobius and I'm not going to be the first Acorn overthrown by her own people due to the fact that I couldn't keep an innocence Mobian from being persecuted twice." Sally said with conviction.
"Mobian directive 1...obey only the orders of Princess Sally Acorn. Ignore any orders given by any other member of the royal family unless ordered to by aforementioned princess," a computerized voice said from a small speaker underneath his flesh
"Sorry, that's my technological side coming out," he replied with a grin "That's one of the effects of being a blend of Mobian and machine, unfortunately."
"So, how good are you at interrogations?" Sally asked.
"Depends, how hard on the prisoner do you want me to be?" Sentinal asked.
"Just rattle him a little," Sally responded.
"I can do that," Sentinal said smirking.
"Good, we need all he knows about Naugus. I've got a bad feeling that there's something we need to know," Sally said and Sentinal nodded. Shadow smirked and followed the echidna to where Snively was being held.
