Chapter 5

Ding dong here is more fun XD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aangs POV
I sat crossed legged by the remains of the fire pit from last night, eagerly watching if Katara woke up. Nothing, she wouldn't stir. I scratched my head and pondered, anyways she wouldn't like be being there. That might be true. I picked up one of the charcoal pieces from last night fingered it a bit then angrily chucked it as far as I can. Why? firebenders used to be my friends! I sat in dismay while somehow I acquired my staff and found myself doodling nonsense in the ground. Ugh! I was so out of it, we needed to get out of this valley, besides i thought of appa who I had let him hide in a large mass of foliage. Supposedly he would be enjoying all the tasty mushrooms and vines which sprouted on the forest floor.
I needed something else, but what? suddenly a guest of air from the north tumbled down spraying my face, The wind carried small snippets of conversations. There where people about, only air carries conversations so far that meant whoever they where were close . my eyes softened into nothing but worry, we really had to get out of her now, no lie Katara's life might be in danger, Our life might be in danger. Katara's injuries were to sirous to travel just quite yet, but we couldn't wait! I felt confusion and anger thrive in my mind, a good round of air gliding might be able to clear things up.
That was really what I needed.
But first things first. Sokka was sprawled out on his mat, just like a true teenager who had enough in one day. he had no intention whatsoever to wake up and do anything . I slightly probed sokka in the shoulder making his snores stop short, "Sokka?" I said quietly. It was he replied with fake snores or just was to exhausted to wake up. probing a bit harder with my staff tip he then swatted at me if I was a fly, "Sokka I'm going to check up and appa." "oh yeah..." He said not understanding what all I said. "make sure Katara is ok, ok?" I said really hoping in his thick head he could at-least remember this. "oh yeah sure..." I felt guilty to leave Katara but the wind was calling to me.
Going to a small ledge where I sat yesterday, I thought would be a great place to lunch up into the air. The air tasted so sweet, it was just the right day to fly too. I right away pounced up into the air hungry to hear the wind whistle through my ears once more. I felt a grin overcome my face as i did dives twists and flourished a bit, to bad everyone was asleep. Pushing more upwards in the sky until I was higher then the tree tops I caught a glimpse of something rising through the tree tops. Smoke. My eyes where to blurry to really notice but as soon as I saw it I immediately touched back down, with panic lurching in my stomach
No, no! this was wrong. Damn myself for being a coward. I needed to find out what the hell the smoke was about, I was in a state of perplexity. My mind raced what if there was another innocent person just about to reach death. I pictured Katara as we found her, the image would surly scar my lifetime. Her face was ashen white from the unpremeditated attack, her eyes seemed blank her stare was repulsive and made my stomach churn. I shook of the thought but I knew it would always be there somewhere no matter how hard I tried to drive it out of me.
I a split second I was back in the sky, I held on tightly even if there was a slight rip in the wind would make me slip. The higher I went in the sky the more my body protested, the cold wind battered my face making my eyes tear almost impossible to see where the trial of smoke was coming from. But it was quite noticeable even for my eyes which where squinted I could see the occasional puffs of black smoke which stood out very well on a clear blue day.
The smoke not coming from a clearing but admist the trees. I just hoped the woods gave enough coverage so who ever where waiting at the bottom would not look up and see me, perticulary a good target for fires reach.
The man toyed around with a soliders helmet, a fresh dent could be seen on the helmets fine frame. He seemed to like the new improvement and kept on stroking over the damaged part.
"oh surely what a pity"
He grinned his eyes flashed full of reborn fire
'what lovley helmet gone to waste'
Two soldiers rattled under there uniforms as the picked up a fresh corpse, a man who once stood laid solemnly dead face down with one hand he held a broken spear.
' you there speak up! is the boy dead?'
'I'm afraid not sir, he got away' one solider said while trying to pick up the body.
The blonde man's face turned into a line of anger, but then suddenly softened. His blue eyes shown contentness,
' why don't you take a load off, both of you. After attack from a boy and 12 of my group is dead you surely need to freshen up.'
both soldiers seemed very puzzled, but by how different he seemed to them, with that they both drop the body on the ground with a soft thud.
' thats right '
The two soldiers didn't notice that his blue eyes flickered with trickery.
' come here '
Bravely one of the soliders stepped foreword. The mans sharp eyes suddenly turned to attention a large gash on the solider's side, The solider stiffened as he felt a hand reach out and touch the sore. The blonde haired man gave a laugh making his eyes fill up with bewildered excitement then shot out a long rope of fire straight onto the wounded flesh.
With a roar of pain the solider fell and crumpled as the fire licked his wound.
Now the man pleased strolled on to business as the other solider stood dumfounded in place
