Riders of the Storm

It was a quiet Saturday afternoon at the Botsford residence. Tim Botsford was in the kitchen, his wife was up in the home office doing work she had brought home the previous day. The baby boy was asleep, TJ was at baseball practice, and Becky was reclined on the couch, reading.

However, she wasn't the only occupant that was on the couch. Her back was pressed against Calceon, the X weapon, Tim Drakesford as he was known by on Earth. His arms were loosely wrapped around her waist. His hands would creep up towards her breasts but she would push them back down before he could cop a feel. She would then elbow him, silently telling him to cut it out, but he would just grin back at her and continue messing with her.

"You are a speed reader, why waste your time reading at such a normal pace?" he whispered teasingly in her ear.

"Unlike you, I can enjoy reading a good book," she fired back. "And keep your hands off me," she growled.

"Make me."

She growled, bookmarked where she was in her book, set it on the coffee table, and started wrestling the X weapon on the couch. However, a loud screech echoed throughout the lower level of the house.

"What the hell?" Calceon asked.

"The weather radio," Becky let out.

"The National Weather Service in Preposterocity has issued tornado watch number 206..."

"Tornado? Man, I've got to get back to a planet that's climate controlled," the X weapon said.

"Great seedless watermelons!" Becky's father shouted. Becky sighed. It was going to be a long afternoon.

A rumble of thunder shook the house the moment the Botsfords finished their dinner. Calceon stepped out onto the back porch and looked up. He then rose into the air, just above the roof of the house and then quickly shot back down and back into the house.

"Clouds aren't supposed to be green," Calceon said.

"Green!" Tim Botsford shouted, looked out the window and shouted again. The weather radio let out another loud screech and the tornado watch was upgraded to a tornado warning. Quickly grabbing said weather radio, batteries, flashlights, and a normal radio, the family quickly headed down into the basement.

The roaring that they could hear from outside was deafening, but it was worse on Becky and the X weapon due to their super hearing. The pair could also hear the sirens going off, letting the citizens of the city know that their was a tornado rampaging through Preposterocity. Eventually, silence feel upon the house. The family slowly made their way up to the first floor.

"Tree down," the X weapon observed.

"Several telephone and power poles are on the ground to," Becky added.

"Looks like it clipped our front yard, but destroyed the house next door," Tim Botsford said. Becky sighed. It looked like WordGirl would be needed to clean the city up from this disaster. It was a rare thing when a tornado or some other natural disaster was what she had to face, and that was usually the aftermath she was stuck dealing with. She didn't have the power to save the city from a storm.

"What a mess," the X weapon said.

"Yeah, c'mon, one more house and I think we'll be done."

the two landed and started digging through the rubble. The Monday afternoon sun beat down upon the two heroes as they quickly worked.

"On three," the X weapon said as they both gripped a wall of the home that had collapsed. "One,"

"Two," WordGirl counted.

"Three!" they both grunted out and lifted and tossed aside the wall. It mad a loud crashing noise, but the sound of someone crying was what had their undivided attention. It was the X weapon that finally pulled out a small, crying boy. The child immediately hugged the X weapon.

"Uh..." Calceon began, very uncomfortably. A car drove up and a man in a business suit ran out quickly got of his car and ran over to the pair of heroes.

"Danny?!" he shouted and the X weapon gladly handed the father his son.

"We've got another dead one hear, and a child that might need attention," WordGirl said over her phone. The dispatcher acknowledged WordGirl's report and a moment later, an ambulance came and father and paramedics went to the hospital.

"That was...uncomfortable for me," the X weapon began.

"That's the best perk of this job, reuniting a family after a disaster like this," WordGirl said. "Although, his babysitter didn't far as well," she added.

"It has been confirmed that an E-F5 tornado tore through Preposterocity Saturday evening," the newscaster reported. Scenes of damage through the city were shown, including heavy damage to Mr. Big's building. Big, of course, took this chance to be in front of a camera, but he ended up crying, wanting a squishy bunny. This had made the pair of Becky and Calceon laugh.

They quickly sobered when they had heard the death toll was close to forty and the storm, which had started its rampage a few states back, was now blamed for over 200 death.

"Are you sure we should be staying on this planet? They don't have a climate control system!" Emma complained.

"Calm down. We have to stay until the war blows over. Once I know that you and I will be safe in returning to Decimal, we'll leave. Until then, we stay here," Caelum said and Emma sighed. The console gave out a beeping noise and she pressed several buttons.

"Uh oh," Emma said.

"What?"

"A Decimalian craft is heading this way...it's Saber."

"Shit," Caelum swore.

Calisto smiled, then smirked, then started laughing. She had found the secret to Decimal's new technology. She would recover the rest of what remained of her world's military, start building a fleet of ships with the transwarp technology and destroy planet Decimal while the fools fought over control over their government.

'Once I have Lexicon back, I shall go back to Earth, kill my niece, and conquer Earth!' Calisto vowed. She had been humiliated, and she was going to make everyone pay for that humiliation.
