And Never Be Ashamed

Chapter 4: And Never Be Ashamed.

Frankie stopped going to parties, stopped the drinking and the drugs. Blowjobs and casual, careless sex were things of the past. They were forgotten like Helena, like Letty and Steve. The Frankie inside, the caged one that kept her sane under the relentless workload seemed satisfied, satiated for the moment. Waiting. Waiting. Not hard to figure that one out.

The attacks on the House seemed to stop about the same time that Terrance, Mac & their mother left for the west coast. Not hard to figure that one out.

The day after Mac left, a thin, tired blue friend reappeared in the mansion. He took a bath, had several large meals and was back to his playful, crazy self. Mostly. He was eager to be adopted and was almost immediately swept up. On his last day in the House several members tried to talk to him, to share old times. He seemed almost his former swaggering self. Except that he denied ever knowing someone named Mac. Claimed he was self-created. Not hard to figure that one out.

Two years after Mac left, Madame Foster, the Great Lady of Foster’s Home passed away peacefully in her sleep. Management passed to her only living relative, her adopted granddaughter, Miss Frances Foster. Services were attended by Mac who had flown from the west coast to assist with the arrangements. Mac planned to stay for a week, then stayed for two more to assist with the transition. He did not sleep in the old bedroom he had shared with Bloo on the third floor of the mansion. Not hard to figure that one out.

Five years after mac had left (for the first time), he had sought and received emancipation from his mother, who was spending most of her time on her older son’s legal difficulties. She loved Mac, but had no time or energy left for him. Mac returned to Foster’s home, eventually completed his education and became Assistant Manager of the facility. At 18 he was married to a woman who was somewhat older than he was.

About the differences in their ages…

She doesn’t care.

He doesn’t care.

Not hard to figure that one out.

Postscript: Sometimes the heart gets what the heart wants. And it never hurt the house!
