Voyeurism
PART 3
Ghost Command
“Jake, are you sure you don’t wanna come?”
“I’m positive, Eddie. I’m just not in the mood to go skiing. Besides, it’ll be best if one of us stays here to answer calls.”
“But Pop and Uncle Jake said they’d cover for us while we were gone.”
Jake smiled and loaded more of Eddie’s equipment into GB’s backseat. “Uh huh. And there are a lot of beautiful snow bunnies up there too, right?”
“Right!” Eddie sighed loudly. “I don’t understand why you don’t just come to Vermont with me, Tracey, and Belfry. We’re gonna havereatreat time and you’re gonna miss out!”
“Eddie, I’ll be fine. I told you, I don’t feel like skiing. And I don’t want to call Dad and Uncle Eddie unless I have to. Please, just go have a great time. That would make me happy. Okay?”
Eddie looked him over. He was definitely hiding something. It wasn’t obvious to just anyone though. Jake was typically a cool cucumber and it would take someone who’d known him his whole life to pick up on it. ‘Well,’ he thought. ‘If Jake wants to open up, Pop and his dad are still here. And if not them, then maybe he’ll confide in Jessica.’ Eddie smiled and clapped his friend on the back. “Okay buddy. I’ll take your word for it. It won’t be the samthouthout you but we do understand. Just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!”
Eddie hopped iGB aGB and they took off for Killington.
Jake watched them as they went and sighed heavily. ‘I think I am going to do something you wouldn’t do, pal.’ He hated hiding things from Eddie, but this was something he needed to work out on his own first. He’d tell him when they got back.
That is, he’d tell him if everything worked out as he hoped.
