Chapter 3

The Time I Forgot to Kneel


The time I forgot to kneel

I had not been here long

Then again I don’t know how long I have been here now

Maybe I can ask Denora

I was sitting there on the couch in my rooms

in clothing he made me wear

that I didn't like

The candle above the hearth said it was the sixth mark

The suns had already gone down

There was a flash of light

Venger appeared before me

I just sat there and looked at him

I knew what would happen if I didn’t kneel

Denora had told me that he would hurt me

She didn’t tell me to be mean

She told me because he told her too

Even so I didn’t

I just sat there and looked at him

I don't know why exactly

I think I just wanted to defy him

I had a pretty good idea of what would happened

Even so I wasn't really prepared

In a way I suppose I was like a small child defying a parent

It happened fast

I didn't realize how fast he could move

He grabbed me and threw me against the wall so hard I saw stars

My tooth became loose then and still hurts

Especially when I drink

He grabbed me by my hair and shook me

He wasn't just angry

He was furious

He yelled and screamed at me

'How dare you not make your obedience to me'

he thundered and slapped me across the face

He slapped me across both cheeks

backward and forward

because I wouldn’t kneel to him

and then he slapped me again

and again

and again

I apologized

I begged

I cried to him I would never forget to kneel again

I promised him I would never forget to kneel again

He stopped slapping me

and threw me against the wall so hard I saw stars again

it knocked the air out of me

I lay sprawled at his feet

tears and blood were on my face

and I lay there scared and unable to breath

He stood before me

He glared at me

and he was so very very angry

His eyes were like tiny slits of red

as they bored into mine

His mouth a thin line

When I could I pulled myself up on the floor and knelt

I knelt to my master

I was so scared

'I'm sorry My Lord I will not forget again'

I said my voice trembling, weak with pain

Venger hauled me to my feet roughly

and magically chained my arms to the wall

One at a time

I stood there my arms in a V

I could not move only stare at him

and I was so scared

What was he going to do?

He made me say 'I will never forget to kneel to you again master'

He made me say it three times

I said it three times

He warned what he would do if I ever forgot to kneel to him again

He said he would take out my right eye if I ever ever forgot to kneel to him again

He made me say it three times

'If I ever forget to kneel to you again you will take out my right eye'

'If I ever f-f—for-get to kn-kneeleel to you again you’ll you’ll take out my right ey--e'

'If I ever f-fffor-get please oh god master please I won’t forget again please don’t hurt me-me please pleeeeeaaaasssseeeee don’t take out my eye just please…………'

And he silenced me by kissing me

He took me

right there against the wall

I knew better than to try to resist

Especially after that

I went along with him willingly

Or at least as willingly as I could

Although my mind recoiled inside

my body was his

I tried to make myself not enjoy it but couldn’t

He was a wizard

And knew more than I ever would as a thief

Especially about sex

After it was done

He released me from the wall

and chained me to the bed

He lay next to me and he held me

Sometimes afterwards we would talk

This was one of those times

'I won’t forget to kneel to you again Master ever'

'No you will not little thief

you are mine

I will do with you as I wish

And what I wish with you…'

He took me again

And I told him again that I would not forget to kneel

And he took me again

And he made me say that I would not forget to kneel as he took me

Again and again I said it

I screamed it to the heavens that I would not forget to kneel

'I will not forget to kneel

I will not forget

I will not'

And when we were done he unchained me before leaving

I drifted off to sleep in the knowledge that I would not forget again

For I knew that he would cut my eye out if I ever forgot

He keeps his promises

And I must do what he says

For he is my master now
