The Irregulars
The Irregulars were discussing the birthday dinner that they would be attending in just a couple of hours.
"Hang on," said Deidre. "I just thought of something. Are we supposed to bring gifts?"
Wiggins and Tennyson exchanged puzzled looks.
"Gee, I didn't think of that," said Wiggins. "I thought the dinner was going to be her gift. You know. We'd all chip in and pay for the meal after the waiter hands us the bill."
"We never did discuss this," said Deidre. "Maybe we should check with Mr. Holmes."
"Hmm. He'll probably pick up the entire tab. He must make a good living as a consulting detective."
"I hope you're right. I'm completely tapped out of funds at the moment," said Deidre.
"Are you going dressed like that?" asked Wiggins.
"Why? Is it some fancy restaurant?" asked Deidre.
Wiggins and Tennyson again exchanged puzzled looks.
"We are SO unprepared for tonight," said Wiggins. "We'd better go see Mr. Holmes and find out what kind of restaurant it is."
The three youngsters headed for Holmes' residence.
