"Well?"

"It ain't coming. We go for the bank?"

"Yeah," the first said to the second. They loaded their AK-47 and AR-15(1) and made sure that they could re-load when needed.

"What about...?" the second asked.

"Even those two can't resist a bullet to the head...hehehe." the first laughed and the second joined along with him.

It was nine in the morning and the biggest, and busiest bank in Preposterocity was opened for the day. Customers came pouring in to do business with the bank. Two masked men entered the bank and the bloodbath began.

It was a cold winter's morning
somewhere shortly past 9:00 AM
the armored car they wanted to heist wasn't coming
so instead they went for the bank
The fateful duo that sat in the get-away car
heavily sedated with thousands of rounds
armor piercing, fully automatic weapons
the bowls of wrath poured out on the ground

"Give us all the money, now!" the one with the AK-47 shouted. A teller hit the silent alarm button on the underside of the counter, but that was her last action as the gun went off and she feel dead to the screams of the patrons of the bank.

The Preposterocity police arrived, but they were only armed with stun guns due to the city's ordnance about no guns in the city, the two robbers quickly started shooting. The first responders took cover by using their cars as protection.

"Dispatch! We need the SWAT team out here now!" an officer shouted over his radio.

"Uh, we don't have one..." the dispatcher said. "City council got rid of the team after all guns were band from the city."

"Officers down! I repeat officers down!"

This was an accident waiting to happen
It wasn't if it would happen, it was when
The city's people sabotaged themselves
calling their firepower unneeded expense
The two most violent men it seemed couldn't be stopped
standard police issued guns were just not enough
But SWAT arrived to settle the fight
Between AK-47 and AR-15

"Attention, Woodview High is now under lock down. Two gunmen have shot up the bank and have also taken several police officers. No one is to leave the campus for any reason." the principal announced over the intercom.

The car was traveling at an insane speed. Cop cars were following, until their tires were blown out by the fire power that the two had and several police vehicles crashed. Seeing a road block ahead, the two stopped and continued their blood bath.

Tim and Becky sat at their desks as the television blared out the coverage of the chase. Most of the students were horrified to see what was going on, but the teacher believed that not letting them know what was going on was more dangerous than keeping the students in the dark.

"Why don't they have guns to fire back at them?" Tim growled quietly.

"A long time ago, city council banded all weapons from the city. The police couldn't have them." Becky explained.

"Well, they'll have to re-think that foolish decision." Tobey let out as more officers tried in vein to stop them.

"Awe, no more?" the second joked seeing that the last officer that had responded was down.

"Let's go!" the first shouted and the two got back in their car and made a wild u-turn and headed back in the opposite direction that they came from.

"Normal schedule can resume, the school is no longer under lock down." the principal announced. Violet and Tobey watched as Becky and Tim shot out of the classroom faster than the bullets that came out of those guns.

"And just how do we stop them?" Tim asked as they hurried out of the school.

"Don't know at the moment...Word up!" she shouted and she took to the skies. The X weapon sighed and followed suit.

The car came to a stop and the two gunmen re-loaded their weapons and waited. Seeing their targets, they fired. Fortunately, their targets were faster and moved before any of the bullets could hit them.

Their guns were quickly kicked out of their hands by the two heroes and state police showed up to collect the duo.

"Today marks the bloodiest day in our city's history. Several dozen police officers were killed and dozens more were seriously wounded. Fortunately, our city's hero, WordGirl, along with her male partner, stopped the path of destruction that the two were bent on doing." the newsman reported on the evening news that evening. Sally Botsford bit her lip. It had been chaos down in city hall the moment the shootings began. She wouldn't be doing the prosecuting, however. This had become a state and federal issue.

"They will get the death penalty for sure." Sally commented.

"Mom, does the state allow for that?" Becky asked.

"If it doesn't, they'll change that soon." Tim Botsford said. TJ wasn't complaining about not being to watch what he wanted.

The nine members of city council were yelling at each other. The mayor stood off to the side and weighted for the hot air to subside so he could speak.

"This is your fault!" one shouted and pointed at a female member of council. "You shoved that ordnance down this council's throat and now looked what has happened!" he finished and about six others cheer his sentiment.

"Order!" the chairman shouted.

"Order? You want order!? After today, if this body doesn't repeal the fire arms band then more incidents like this one will take place!" the councilman continued.

"It was the illegal guns that..." the councilwoman started but she was cut off.

"We've heard enough of your dribble! Yes, WordGirl stopped them, but if the police department had their SWAT team back they could have stopped this before the blood shed would have reached the point that it did! Hell, one of our own citizens might have shot both of them before any cop had to take a bullet!"

"Order!" the chairman called for again, but didn't get.

"I ask that an immediate repeal of city ordnance 770733033 be voted upon right now!" he demanded.

"I second it!" a second council person piped up.

All in favor?!" the first said now railroading the chair man.

"Aye!" six other voices chorused with the one female council member and the chairman not voting.

"Wait a minute!" the chairman shouted. He wasn't appreciating the railroading he was getting.

"You want to keep talking about this or will you do your job and say that the motion is approved?!" he asked. The chairman looked nervous. Apparently, he would have to let it go.

"The motion is carried." he said and the seven cheered.

"During an emergency city council meeting, a shocking turn of events occurred as the city's gun band ordnance was repealed right on the spot. The vote was 7-0 with two abstaining..." the news person reported and Tim Botsford sighed and turned off the TV.

"Well, that did it, they got rid of it." he remarked.

"That law was tieing the hands of our police force. Now, what happened today will not happen again." Sally said. The two parents go to their room.

"Will this mean that our daughter...?"

"Guns or no guns, the super villains in this city won't stop and WordGirl is still needed, dear."

"I just wish she didn't..."

"Be WordGirl or be around her Decimalian partner?" Sally questioned and her husband blushed. He fell silent as the two headed on for bed.
