That Night . . .

Jessica was lying in her bed tossing and turning when she swore she saw a bright light in the nightmare she was having. It was so bright, and she felt drawn to it. She went towards it and walked into it, only to find that she had been dreaming and that the light had drawn her into wakefulness. She squinted and peered around the room, and to her surprise she found that she was not alone.

A figure in a black hooded cloak hovered above her bed. Its face was completelddendden from her, but the proportions suggested that it was a woman, or at least some sort of humanoid female.

The figure alighted at the foot of Jessica’s bed and addressed her in a high-pitched voice. “Jessica Rhea. I beseech you not to desert your relationship with the Ghostbuster Jake Kong. He loves you and the baby, and you will be making a big mistake if you do not go to him.”

Jessica stared in shock, and then responded. “I’m sorry lady, but Jake doesn’t love me. He loves someone else, and he cheated on her to be with me. He made me something I swore to myself I would never be. My father cheated on my mother lots of times, and with women who knew he was married. Jake knows that, and he knows I didn’t ever want to be the other woman. And he made me into the other woman anyway. Now I’m pregnant with a lying cheater’s bastard child and my friend Futura’s heart is broken.”

“Oh for crying out loud! My heart isn’t broken!” The strange visitor pulled down her hood and faced Jessica. It was Futura. “Jessica, I was not dating Jake.”

“But . . . but at Haunt Quarters! When he kissed me! You looked like your world had fallen apart! I saw you myself!”

“Well, yes. I was upset then, but I’m fine now. What I’m more worried about is the fact that you and Jake are about to give up something so special . . . gosh, Jessica, he loves you! Can’t you see that? And you love him too! I know you do! He wasn’t cheating on me! We were never together. It’s always been you, Jess. You’re the love of his life. Now go!”

Jessica got up out of bed and stood toe to toe with Futura. Suddenly, Jessica hugged her friend and ran to her bathroom to change.
