The boys to Hto Haunt Quarters just as Jake finished giving them the long and the short of the details of his affair with Jessica. Eddie was feeling pretty bad about not listening sooner. If he’d known it was this serious an issue, he really would have just told the snow bunny see ya later!

Tracey piloted GB into a remote alcove of the giant fortress. They tried to be as stealthy as possible, but it was likely Prime Evil already knew they were there.

“You know, Jake,” Eddie whispered. “You’re not really gonna be much use in there with your arm busted up. Maybe you should wait here.”

“No. I’m, going in.”

“Well . . . okay, I guess I knew that you would, but there is something we can do to get help. We can call . . .” There was a short burst of light, and when it dissipated, a friendly face was smiling at them in its place. “ . . . Futura!”

“Hello, boys. Need a hand with something?”

“Do we ever!” Eddie said. “We . . . uh . . .” He looked back and forth between Futura and Jake. It might not be the best idea to tell her the whole truth about Jake and Jessica. He knew she had a thing for Jake, and he’d never really been sure if Jake had a thing back. Maybe that was one of the things Jake regretted, but he was so focused on Jess . . . best not to hurt Futura’s feelings. “We have to rescue Jessica. Prime Evil took her prisoner. Jake tried to protect her until we got there, and his arm was ind, sd, so we’re kinda ‘short-handed’.” Jake had seemed not to be listening, but when Eddie made the bad pun, he groaned and pulled a face at him. “Sorry. Couldn’t resist. Anyway, we could really use your help.”

Futura giggled and said, “Okay.m wim with you.” She placed a hand on Jake’s good forearm, smiling sweetly at him. Jake didn’t even notice. Eddie sighed. This was gonna be bad when they found Jess.

“Let’s go then. Coming Belfry?”

“Right behind you, Eddie!”
