(----)

The following day on Airlandis, Summit was not happy.

Granted, no one in their family currently was but at least Summit actually had an outlet for it, unlike the others. Speaking of said outlet...

In the dragonator's training gym, Summit narrowed his eyes at the junior dragonator he'd just tossed to the mats and barked out, “You call that a choke hold?! This isn't playtime junior! Come at me like you mean it or get out!”

The younger dragonator groaned and rolled over, pushing himself to his feet and getting back in position like he'd been shown earlier. Summit had to give the kid credit for not complaining, but that wouldn't amount to much if the junior dragonator couldn't pass this class. The other five junior dragonators in the class watched with rapt attention, well knowing that anyone caught not paying attention would be made to go next.

Getting ready himself, he shouted, “Now!”

At the signal, the younger dragonator launched himself at Summit, trying to get the older and larger man into the choke hold Summit himself had shown them at the beginning of class on an unfortunate volunteer. Mentally shaking his head at the boy's hesitance, Summit took advantage of it to twist the hold around, catching the younger dragonator in it instead.

Making sure not to put too much strength into the hold, he snapped, “Better, but you're not committing to it! If this was Old Earth, you'd be captured or dead by now!”

Squeezing a tiny bit more to make sure the lesson stuck, Summit released the younger man and stepped back, giving the other room to breath. He frowned to himself as he judged if the younger dragonator could go another round or if he should pick a new target/trainee.

But before he could make the call, Z'neth interrupted the class, “Summit!”

Summit glanced over his shoulder at his older brother and saw Z'neth wave him over to talk. Nodding, he turned back and caught the charging trainee, easily throwing the younger man to the mats again but this time using more force than normal to really make the lesson stick. Shaking his head, Summit told him, “Good initiative, but wrong timing. Do that again and I'm putting you on kitchen duty.”

Looking up from the groaning dragonator, he gave a sideways wave of his hand to the others, “Class dismissed. Everyone be here at this time tomorrow so we can finish the lesson.”

The juniors called out affirmatives before quickly vanishing to other parts of the gym, one staying behind to help his friend up. Summit watched for just a minute longer to make sure that particular junior dragonator was alright, only walking over to Z'neth once he was sure of it.

His older brother offered him a towel, which Summit accepted and used to wipe the sweat off his face and neck, asking at the same time, “So, what news from the council?”

Z'neth smiled a sharp, dark smile, “It took some time, but we've got our night raid.”

Summit blinked in shock before returning the smile with one of his own, “When?”

The older brother replied, “Tomorrow night, at sundown. We'll go over the fine details before then, but for now, it's confirmed that we are going to comb as much of Warnado as we can before retreating.”

He paused then grudgingly added, “The council's also using this opportunity to send out two teams to gather as many amber crystals as possible. Since we'll be distracting Dread Wing and his forces, the council wants to make the most out of this as they can.”

Summit snorted but gave no comment to that. It seemed perfectly like something the council would decide upon. Instead he said, “At least we've got the raid. Confirmed teams?”

Z'neth answered, “The Dragon Flyz, squad two and a few solo dragonators as back up. Squads three and four will be doing the amber runs.”

Summit winced but nodded, “Not a bad setup. Do the others know yet?”

His brother replied, “Father and Dram know, since they were at the meeting with me. Apex still doesn't, so I'm on my way to tell her now. We're definitely going to need Wing Storm for this and she's our best bet for getting him off of the city. Zarkan was also at the meeting, so squad two should know by now. I still have to pick out the solos though.”

Summit nodded again, draping the now rolled up towel over his shoulders, “I'll help out out with picking the solos. It'll get the work done faster.”

Z'neth patted Summit on the shoulder in thanks, lightly joking, “Perhaps after a shower. Otherwise you'll scare everyone off.”

Summit lightly smacked Z'neth's hand away, “That's what I was going to do anyway, big brother. Meet back up in your office in fifteen minutes?”

Z'neth confirmed it, “Fifteen minutes. I'll bring Apex and Dram with me. See if you can't locate Zarkan or Amod to come with you.”

Giving a final nod, Summit turned around and headed for the gym showers, feeling better than he had in weeks at the knowledge that action was finally being taken to find Peak.
