Dreams to come

She looked ethereal in her dress, pale blue draped across her body artfully. As many times as he’d seen the type of dress, he didn’t think he’d seen many wear it the way that Ladybug did. She looked like a fairy trapped in the human world made to dance for their whims, dance for his whims.

He wouldn’t deny that he was a terrible person but driven by love even the best of people could fall to such lows. It had taken him years to see how Emilie had manipulated him and years for him to reconcile the woman he loved with the woman who had known he’d had such darkness in his heart and asked him to free his restraint to attack the city looking for the tools to bring her back.

Finally, he’d conceded that he would never get the Miraculous that he wanted so terribly, finally, he told himself enough was enough and he would stop. Only the power had been addicting and he was slowly weaning himself off of it, Chat Noir seemed every bit ready to attack as always but Ladybug...Ladybug had been acting differently with him, showing him compassion… It changed his opinion on her, he’d always seen her as brash and reckless. Kind to a fault but not forgiving, especially considering all the times he had attacked her or her friends.

Watching her fall off the side of the tower spurred him into action, fear danced in her eyes even as he reached for her before she buried her face in her hands, tears leaking around them. He caught her up as gently as he could and landed waiting for her to gain her feet, her warmth blam against the chill of a summer’s night. Blue eyes peeked up at him, soft pink lips kinked into a half-smile. A soft thank you sent a flutter through his chest, she hadn’t needed to thank him. How many times had she saved his life, how many times had this young woman saved him from himself?

“De rien, mademoiselle Dupain-Cheng.” He noticed Chat Noir heading towards them, it was best if he left before Noir could give him any trouble as much as he loathed to leave ladybug on her own.
