Planet Fall

He awoke, feeling as if he'd been ran over by a battle cruiser. He growled and got to his feet. He heard a moan to his left and saw a black hedgehog.

"Hey kid, this ain't no place to be taking a nap," Sentinal said trying to get the hedgehog to get to his feet.

"Ugh, where the hell am I?" the hedgehog asked.

"You and I are out in the middle of The Great Unknown."

"Where on Earth is that?"

"Earth, kid, you're not on Earth, this is Mobius, you're a Mobian."

"What? The last thing I remember is fighting Black Doom and then I chaos controlled after killing that bastard..."

"Chaos control? Kid, that skill is only for those that've absorbed a lot of chaos energy."

"So I chaos controlled to another planet?"

"Kid, I think you chaos controlled to another reality."

"Damn," the black hedgehog said and checked his guns to see that they were still in working order. He checked his backpack and found a black chaos emerald.

"Kid, where the hell did you get that?"

"I've never seen a black chaos emerald," the hedgehog said as the black emerald pulsed with power.

"Heh, looks like Chaos and Order have found their replacements, at least, Chaos has. Now c'mon, there's an electrical storm heading this way and we better start getting the hell out of here unless you want to be fried. You think you can run?"

"Yeah," he said revving his feet.

"Good," Sentinal said and the rockets in his boots ignited and the two took off.

The echidna and hedgehog ran through the wasteland that was the Great Unknown.

"Where are we going?"

"There's a village 200 clicks up ahead. I think we might be able to get our bearings there kid."

"The name's Shadow, not kid," the black hedgehog informed the echidna.

"Shadow huh? At least it fits."

The two slowed just before they got to the outskirts of the village. They walked the rest of the way and looked around.

"Damn, it looks like the 23rd century around here," he noted surprisingly. He had believed that some progress would have been made during the five centuries he'd been away. Seeing an opened saloon, the pair walked in to see if they could find out what was going on on this planet now. They approached the bar where a mongoose was tending. She was wearing a skin tight outfit that hugged her ample curves.

"What will it be?" she asked after the two sat down.

"We don't have any money, is the water free around here?" Sentinal asked.

"That and the advice," she said and poured up the water.

"This is going to sound strange, but I've not been here since the 27th century," Sentinal began.

"So, how did you get to the 33rd century then?" she asked wondering if the echidna was crazy.

"I'm part machine," he answered.

"Robotnik didn't build you did he?" she asked.

"Robotnik?!" Shadow exploded.

"Easy kid, you've got to forgive him, he chaos controlled from his reality into ours. He got the chaos emerald to prove that he can do that if you don't believe me," the echidna said.

"A chaos emerald...you ought not to talk about those things here," the mongoose warned.

"I think we can handle ourselves. Now, I'm guessing that this Robotnik rules or has some influence over Mobius now?"

"Yes. He overthrew the Acorns in 3224, but we all thought he was killed during the Doomsday project explosion, but turns out he didn't die and now he and Ixis Naugus run Robotropolis."

"Ixis Naugus!" Sentinal exploded then calmed down. "That ass hole is still alive?! Well now, I guess I'm going to finally get my revenge."

"I cannot believe there's a Robotnik here as well," Shadow growled.

"What's his problem?" the mongoose asked.

"Haven't asked about that. Thanks for the water. Let's go kid, we've got to find Robotropolis." Sentinal said.

"You can't go there, you'll get captured and turned into robots," the mongoose let out. "Why don't you stay," she asked and batted her eyes at Shadow and tried to show off more of her goods.

"Sorry, neither of us are interested in staying," Sentinal replied.

"Awe," she complained, "but, if you change your mind," she said and stroked the side of Shadow's face, "I'll be here," she said with a smile and the two made their way out of the bar.

"Gentlemen," a voice stopped them. The two turned to see a weasel and several other shady characters.

"You want something, weasel?" Sentinal asked.

"Are you interested in buying weapons?" he asked.

"No," Sentinal answered.

"Selling those interesting weapons you've got on you?" the weasel questioned again.

"No," Shadow growled.

"Then, you better hand those weapons over to me so I can sale them," the weasel said and the group of Mobians surrounded the pair.

"Ok," Sentinal growled and claws made out of a strange metal come out, "who's first?!"

"Hold it!" another voice called out. They all turned to se a large bear wearing a vest with a sheriff's badge on it. "Break it up, Nack," he growled to the weasel. Nack and his gang quickly scattered. The pair relaxed until the bear turned on them.

"Ok, hand over your weapons and come with me," the bear requested.

"Hey, we didn't do anything!" Sentinal growled.

"It takes two to start a fight and you are the strangers in this town, and I don't like strangers making trouble in my village," the bear countered.

"We were just leaving," Shadow relayed.

"Don't matter, now hand over..." the bear said but he was blasted by Shadow and fell to the floor.

"Uh..." Sentinal began.

"I just stunned him. C'mon, let's go find this Robotropolis," Shadow said and the two left.

"What was up with the mongoose?" Shadow asked as they walked out of the village.
"She's wanting a mate and with the planet
under a tyrant's rule, she's hearing her biological clock ticking. We'll have to head in that direction," Sentinal said.

"How can you tell?"

"There's a large cloud of pollution in that direction. Most likely, that's where the city is," Sentinal replied and the pair took off in the direction of the city.
