Grey Matter

Pairing: Katara/Zuko

Summary: After the Western Air Temple aired, which reminds me gah I cant wait for the next episodes, everyone seemed to be bashing Katara for not instantly welcoming Zuko with open arms. Alright I admit the death threat was a bit...heated...but in retrospect Aang almost died! So this drabble deals with my take on Katara in that moment. Enjoy!

--Blood Moon--

She thought she could, that they all could remain as they were; thats why she had offered to heal the exiled prince.

She wanted to remain the innocent, to be able to forgive...even the devils spawn.

When he turned on them she wasn't surprised, its what he has been bred to do after all. But when they struck Aang down, when that gaping hole opened in his back, flames licking at the edges, she came to several realizations.

After the grief when the rage set in...looking around at their group (children) looking at her family (Aang please breathe) she was their mother (but we're all children) and she would protect them.

And then the fire prince joined their group and Aang forgave him so easily, they all did. But she remembered and the rage built in her chest. "Spreading pain and destruction is in your blood". And what is it they say...blood is thicker than water. Hamma forced her, taught her that. She will be there watching and when he gives in to the flames in his blood. "You make one wrong move, one step backward, you wont half to worry about your destiny any more because i'll make sure it ends right then and there...permanently".

She dreams of a full moon, royal thick blood on her hands, and his drained body at her feet.

AN: Oh dont give me that look! Its still zutara just not very fluffy :) I wanted to portray with this drabble how Katara feels so hurt and angry at Zuko, why she threatened him at the Western Air Temple. She is protecting her family.

Also does anyone know when the next episode comes out?
