Chapter 1: Second Meetings
Three months after he killed the young woman, Prowl finally decided to visit her grave and pay his respects. Kneeling in front of the grave, he bent his head and prayed for her happiness in the afterlife.
"Aww, how sweet. But I don't really need you to pray for me to be happy. Your misery should be more than enough to bring a smile to my face every day." A mocking, feminine voice interrupted his supplication. He looked up, recognition dawning in his eyes.
"Hello Markaya." The ghost of Markaya Knox gave him a nasty smirk.
"I did tell you I'd come back, didn't I?"
"You did." He agreed stoically. "As I recall, I said that I would not stop you if you managed to do so." His statement garnered a pleased look from her.
"You did indeed. Its so nice to meet someone who not only means what they say, but follows through on it. Almost makes it a shame that I'm only here to make your life a living hell, doesn't it?" She chuckled, before continuing. "Don't worry though, I won't bring your precious people into this. As far as I'm concerned, this is between you and me, no one else."
"I appreciate that. Thank you." Prowl replied.
"No problem. I've never been one for bringing other people into either my or what I consider private affairs." Markaya shrugged nonchalantly. Prowl nodded before he turned and began to walk away, his feminine spectre not far behind.
"I should tell you some of the background of the circumstances that surrounds my faction. I am an Autobot, to be specific, the Second-in-Command of all the Autobots and the head Tactician. Are you with me so far?"
"Yeah. If you recall, the reason you killed me was because I saw your true forms." Markaya said dryly. Her statement made Prowl pause.
"You knew?"
"I kinda figured that was why, it was just confirmed after I followed you around for a couple of days. Now then, continue." She commanded imperiously.
"We are currently in an uneasy peace with another faction. They are the Decepticons. We were in a civil war. My leader Optimus Prime hopes to turn this current peace into a solid, true one. The reason we are cooperating with each other, or rather, no longer attempting to kill each other on sight is because we are in a mutual, desperate need of energy. And the fact is, humankind has progressed to be an actual danger to us if we were to simply take the energy, or in the case of the Autobots, negotiate for it. And we have no chance of reigniting friendships between ourselves and the human governments."
"Wait a minute, you guys were on Earth before?" Markaya interjected.
"Yes, approximately fifty-thousand years ago." Prowl affirmed.
"And you're the same people who were here before?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes. One hundred of your years is about a month for our people." Prowl explained patiently.
"So if you guys were gone for fifty-thousand of our years and one hundred of our years is around one of your months, then in your guys' sense of time measurement, you were gone for roughly sixteen of your years." Marakay said.
"Correct." Prowl replied.
"Okay then, go on."
"As I was saying, we are in a very uneasy peace with the Decepticons on both sides. Unfortunately on both sides, there are more than a few who are just waiting for an excuse to start the fighting back up, and while we are on eath, we simply can't risk it. We can not be discovered by the humans. However, both factions are almost completely re-energised and we will all be leaving in six more weeks." Prowl finished with a small sigh.
"I have a question for you. How long have you guys been here and how many humans have been killed to protect your secret?" Markaya asked, idly floating on her back beside him as he walked.
"We have been here for sixty-five years, and you were the fifteenth human killed." He answered her quietly.
"I see."
They both looked up as a large building came into sight.
"So that's your ship?" Markaya asked disinterestedly. Noticing Prowl's look of surprise at her statement, she snorted. "Yes Prowl, I can see through the hologram over it."
Before he could reply, she disappeared.
"Markaya?" He called out softly, looking around. Receiving no answer, he walked up to the door as it opened to reveal Optimus Prime. Saluting his Commanding Officer, Prowl opened his mouth to speak when he was suddenly shoved to his leader's feet.
"No one will see, hear or feel me unless I want them to Prowl." Markaya whispered venomously in his ear. "Prepare for the rest of your existence to be filled with pain, suffering and humiliation among other things. Got that, bastard?"
"Aww, how sweet. But I don't really need you to pray for me to be happy. Your misery should be more than enough to bring a smile to my face every day." A mocking, feminine voice interrupted his supplication. He looked up, recognition dawning in his eyes.
