The green hedgehog landed his hover board and called out, "hey sis!"

"Manic, what are you doing here?" Sonia asked, coming over to him.

"Princess sent me to see how things here at Sanctuary was doing."

"We're fine," Sonia replied with a smile. "Good to see you again. How's little brother?"

"Mated."

"Mated!? Are you serious?"

"Yep, he and the Princess went up into the Northeastern territory and a Justice performed some sort of ceremony so they are blood mates. Her father isn't in a good mood though," Manic said with a half grin.

"I bet."

Sanctuary had been secretly established after the Doomsday Project had been destroyed. It had become clear that it was needed due to the fact that needed due to the fact that the war appeared to be an on going thing. All elderly Mobians and very young orphaned children had been herded to Sanctuary for their protection. It was a civilian retreat point. The freedom fighter groups would still retreat back to the Northeastern territory if Knothole was ever discovered. However, if the resistance group were to have suffered such a major blow that it couldn't keep fighting, all remaining members were to fall back to Sanctuary and wait until the next generation of freedom fighters were old enough to take up the fight.

"How's the supplies?"

"We've got enough to last another month, but beyond that, I don't know."

"Gotcha, I'll inform the Princess when I get back to Knothole."

"You still answer to her?"

"Yeah, since she and Sonic will be ruling this planet after old Buttnik bites the big one and Naugus and Mogul are finished off."

"Mogul?"

"Oh yeah," manic began and started updating his twin sister on the happens in the resistance.

"Goodness," Sonia reacted after Manic had finished.

"Good thing I was no where near Nag's group when they got captured."

"How's uncle?"

"Fine, still doing the whole spy thing. He hasn't found our parents yet, but he said he'll keep trying."

"Tell him to not to give up."

"He won't since one of them is his brother."

Sir Charles waited on his old friend to stop his tirade. He knew that the king couldn't keep up his rant for much longer. It was best for one to let the king shout himself breathless and then speak."

"You done?"

"I...think...so," the king gasped out.

"Good, now listen, you know that your daughter loves him. You should have seen this coming and not tried to pull them apart. You know good and damn well that most of the noble houses have been lost due to Robotnik."

"But if a de-roboticizer..."

"You can't count on that. Sure, it may come, but then again, it might not. These kids have been forced to grow up too fast because of our bumbling during the Great War! It's our fault and we ought to bare the punishment for it. We screwed up Max," Charles said, addressing the king by his rarely used name. "And we must pay for it."

"But my daughter..."

"You are just upset that she fell in love with a genetic weapon that you authorized its creation in the first place. You could have stopped the whole thing but you didn't."

The king sighed, "you're right. You're always right."

"Not always. I should have never built the roboticizer in the first place."

"If this whole thing has taught me one thing, it is to never trust no one that isn't Mobian. But what am I going to do? That nephew of yours is going to be the next king!"

"Do you think the people of Mobius want a noble born king? Sonic has been saving everyone's ass from the beginning. Without him, we'd all be robots."

The king sighed yet again. "I hate that fact, Charles, I really do."
"You may hate it, but it is a fact," Charles said and the king slumped his shoulders in defeat.

"In coming!" Manic shouted and landed. "They've got enough for another month, but after that Sonia's not sure."

"Ok, we'll start planning to divert some of Robotnik's supplies," Sally remarked.

Maria smiled as Tails continued to practice with his new powers. The white kitsume turned to see Shadow on his emerald. It worried her that he was getting in tuned with such an evil looking chaos emerald.

'You are worried I'll become as twisted as Chaos?' Shadow's voice echoed in her head.

"Shadow...I'm..."

'I know. I saw what Chaos became by having this much power at his command. I won't fall like as long as you are by my side.'

Snively coward in his sell. He was wondering why his uncle hadn't just thrown him into a roboticizer and turned him into a worker-bot.

"comfortable, Snively?" Robotnik teased as he came into the sell. The door shut behind him with a loud clang.

"Just get it over with and turn me into a robot," Snively retorted.

"If you haven't noticed," I am now the lacky."

"How does it feel?" Snively asked and Robotnik hoisted him up to eye level.

"Listen to me very carefully, Snively. We are going to get back everything, do you understand me?"

"Yes, sir," Snively choked out, realizing that his uncle was tired of Naugus and Mogul.

"Now, what do you know about those rodents."

"The echidna seems to have an artificial eye and needs to recharge his electronic components ever so often."

"Hmmmm, interesting. I suppose they didn't let you see the way to Knothole?"

"They aren't that stupid."

"No, they are not. We will rid ourselves of Naugus and Mogul. You understand me, Snively."

"Yes, sir," he said and Robotnik left. He sighed. He rather work for Robotnik than play fourth fiddle in Mogul's game.
