The First Sign
That night, Ria and I stayed up late discussing “important”, as Ria claimed they were, matters about the baby such as names, stuff for it, what we should feed it, what we would do if it turned out to be twins (or more), and a whole lot of other stuff. I was more interested in what it would look like. I hoped it would have my eyes. I always had sort of thought that my Irken eyes were sort of pretty. Their color sort of reminded me of a cross between the color of a sapphire and the color of an amethyst. Anyway, after about three freaking HOURS of listening to Ria babbling on and on, I finally just told her that I had to go do something right quick. I ran into my room and didn’t come back out until the next morning.
Throughout the week, I continued to worry about the unborn smeet inside of me. I had been so stupid that night; I had let him fuck me without even stopping to consider the consequences of such an act. But I didn’t tell anyone about my fears, not even Dib. I didn’t know why, but I just couldn’t tell him about my worries. I knew that he was ecstatic that we were going to have a baby, and I didn’t want to ruin his joy with my negative attitude towards it.
As the months passed, my belly begin to grow bigger and bigger until finally, the time came when I could no longer pass myself off as “a bit chubby”. So, I forged a note saying that I would be leaving town for a few months to go to Germany for a special family vacation. Of course, I wasn’t really going to Germany, but rather, I was going to stay out of school until my baby was born, as well as a few more months afterward to take care of it. I told Dib about it after school. “Wow. I wish I was that good at forging stuff. Then I could skip school with you.” I smirked. “You know, I could always just forge you a note to.” He thought for a minute. “True... but what would you say? That the doctors discovered that my dad just discovered a new disease and I have it and I can’t come to school until further notice?” A smile began to grow on my face. Dib noticed and looked suspicious. “What are you thinking about?” he asked warily. “You know, that whole thing about the disease, it just might work.” Dib groaned.
After my work was done, I gave the note to Dib and told him to take it to the principal. While he was gone, something amazing happened. I was just sitting there, minding my own business while I waited for him to come back, when suddenly, there came from inside me what felt like a tiny kick. I gasped as my hand automatically flew straight to my large belly. I was stunned into silence, and remained that way until Dib returned.
“Um... Luna?” Dib was saying. “Luna? Hellooooo, anybody hooome? Luna?” Finally, his words snapped me out of my reverie. “Oh... my God... Dib... something... AMAZING... just happened...” He looked at me kinda funny and then asked me what had happened. I preceded to tell him. When the news reached his ears, his eyes widened. “Oh my God!” he squealed. “Then that must mean you’re gonna have it soon!” He squealed again, this time out of pure excitement. I smiled. “You do know that I’m not going to a human hospital, right?” He looked confused, so I decided I should elaborate. “If I do, then they’ll surely figure out that I’m not human.” “Hmm... That’s true. So then, what, you’re just gonna give birth at your house?” I smirked “Exactly.” I replied.
