Birthday Beginnings

They made plans for dinner and a movie that night. “My treat this time,” he insisted. And Jake finally called Eddie. He’d been pretty worried, but he was happy to hear why Jake hadn’t called or come home. Eddie congratulated his friends on their new relationship. The couple agreed to talk to their families together. As for friends, Madam Y, being psychic, probably knew already, but they would be sure to go together to visit her soon. Eddie would tell Futura if they just told him it was a secret. They knew he’d be sure not to keep it. “It’s not like it’s a big surprise or anything!” he had informed them, and then reluctantly ‘swore’ not to tell anyone. Belfry and Tracey came to the phone in turn to offer their congratulations. All their other friends would just have to wait.

Jessica finally convinced Jake to allow them to get up and get dressed. She spoke to him in the same way one speaks to a fussy toddler. “We’re out of condoms,” she said slowly. “We have to get dressed to get more, right?” He reluctantly accepted her logic, but begged her to start taking ‘The Pill’ A.S.A.P. In a last ditch effort he tried to get her to shower with him under the guise of ‘water conservation’. She smirked and replied that he had been born yesterday, not her.
