Jail Bait

Two tall heavily armed guards escorted two new prisoners into the massive inter-planetary jail. One prisoner was pale and had black spiky hair which looked the the sharp end of a scythe. The other was Irken, with a scar over his left eye. They were both dressed in bright orange prison garb and were handcuffed. The guards led them to a small room with one bed and one toilet. No windows and a solid steel door completed the look. "Here's your new home, ladies." one of the guards said. "Have fun. Hehehehe" Both of the guards threw the prisoners in and shut the door behind them, locking it from the outside.

"Great! Just great! We almost had them but you had to go and get us caught! Now we're probably going to die in here and it's all you're fault!!" the Irken, named Zim, shouted. The human, Dib, gave him an angry look. "My fault?! I'm not the one who gave away our position! Besides, you didn't listen to my directions! If you had listened to me, we wouldn't be in this situation!" Zim didn't respond. He wasn't really up for arguing with the human right now. If he and Dib hadn't teamed up to save the Earth, none of this would have happened.

"Look Dib, we have no one to blame but ourselves. If I hadn't of agreed to team up with you, this would have never happened. I shouldn't have tried to get revenge on them." Them meaning the Tallest, who as Zim learned only a Earth year ago, had lied to him and banished him there. Dib found out through his usual snooping and from there they plotted this whole "taking down the empire" scheme. It was doomed from the start and Zim knew it. Hell, they probably both knew it but they went along with it anyway and now here they are.

Dib stared at Zim for what seemed the longest time. "Zim, I'm surprised. Usually you don't acknowledge your mistakes."  Zim huffed "Zim acknowledges nothing." The Irken buried his face in his hands and sat on the bed.  "How could we have done something so foolish?" he said in a muffled voice. Dib sat on the bed next to him. "I don't know Zim, but we'll find a way out of this situation." Zim looked up expectantly at Dib. "Really? Our truce is still on?" "Of course, we can't very well get out of here without a little teamwork now can we?" Dib managed a smile. Zim smiled back weakly and put a hand on Dib's shoulder. "Thank you, Dib-human." Dib was surprised there wasn't an insult following his name. He wasn't exactly sure why Zim had wanted to team up in the first place. Why him? Why did he pick his worst enemy to help him overthrow his planets government? The answer was unknown but Dib vowed to himself that he would find out.

Their truce was put to the test when they tried to decide on the sleeping arrangements.

They both examined the bed. It was an average sized single person bed with plain sheets and a pillow. "Um, Dib, how are we gonna do this?" Zim asked, a slight blush coming to his face. "I, uh, guess we just share it." Dib replied. "Oh Irk." Zim sighed. Dib got in first, laying on his right side. Zim followed and also laid on his right side. "Uh, Zim, do you have to lay that way?" Dib asked, feeling a little uncomfortable. "Yes, Dib. I like sleeping on my side and if I was laying on my left side, it would be more uncomfortable for you." Dib sighed, and scooted over as much as he could so he wouldn't touch the Irken where he wasn't supposed to.

This was going to be a long night.
