A Hey Arnold Story- Day 1
Well, everybody is pretty much happy, no matter what life throws at them. Why? They're in 7th grade and it's the Second to Last year of middle school. Helga is still best friends with Phoebe, as are Gerald and Arnold and Hegla is still in love with Arnold and he doesn't know. Still. Arnold still likes Lila, who doesn't like him like him.
This story takes place around the Big Valentine's Day Dance.
It was a warm day in Feb. and Arnold and Gerald have just come from Gerald's field after a game against Harold's baseball team. It was about a week before the Dance and Gerald and Arnold decided to spend the rest of the afternoon, just relaxing and playing some video games. As they got near the boarding house, Gerald was listening to Arnold talking about asking Lila to the dance, but Gerald couldn't stop looking at something with bright colors at the steps of the boarding house.
"Hey Arnold, look at that." Gerald said as he ran towards the steps.
"What is it?" Arnold asked, running after him.
"Come on, tell me." Arnold said, when Gerald didn't answer him right away.
"Seem like somebody who is secret wants to take you to the dance." Gerald said.
"I bet it's Lila." Arnold said, with a big smile.
"How much times does she have to tell you, she only likes you, she doesn't like you like you." Gerald said, rolling his eyes.
"Well, maybe she does now, i mean, look at all the little bright notes that are on the steps." Arnold said, picking up atleast like 50.
"Maybe we can solve this." Gerald said, picking up some that Arnold let fall to the ground.
"Yeah, come on." Arnold said, opening the door.
On the way up to his room, Arnold was still talking about asking Lila to the dance.
"Hey Gerald, who are you taking to the dance?" Arnold asked, as he closed his bedroom door.
"Oh... ummm... i'm taking...." Gerald said, looking at the ground.
"don't even say you're taking Lila." Arnold said, looking kinda mad.
"No, Lila has a date. Oops." Gerald said.
"WHAT?! WHO?!" Arnold said, angrily.
"She's taking Danny, you know that kid we played baseball against, he went to PS.117, they have history and science together, she's had a crush on him for a while now." Gerald.
"Oh...." Arnold said, looking kinda sad.
"You know i would never do anything with Lila, come on now, i'm your best friend, even if i liked Lila like that, i wouldn't do anything and before you get mad, i don't like her like her, i just like her, she's cool." Gerald said.
"yeah i know." Arnold said with a smile.
"I'm taking Phoebe." Gerald said.
"That's cool. You like her like her, don't you?" Arnold asked.
"yeah, i do.... she's pretty smart and cool." Gerald said.
"I wonder who i can ask..." Arnold said.
"Well, as far as i know, you can go by yourself or with Rhonda or Helga." Gerald said.
"That's it?" Arnold said.
"Yeah, Rhonda has already said she's not going with anybody and Helga, i don't know, as far as i know, she's not going with anybody." Gerald said.
"Boy, Helga sure has changed alot since PS118." Arnold said.
"True, she still picks on you though...." Gerald said.
"yeah, i know, it sucks really." Arnold said, looking through his cds.
"Did you ever think, that maybe..." Gerald started to say.
"What?" Arnold asked, looking up.
"Nah, That's CRAZY!!" Gerald said.
"Whatever you're thinking, i'm sure it is Crazy." Arnold said, throwing a pillow at Gerald.
"Well, remember that saying one of the teachers from PS 118 told us?" Gerald asked, throwing a pillow back @ Gerald.
"Which one?" Arnold asked, looking confused.
"IF somebody picks on you, it means they like you." Gerald said.
"Yeah... what about it." Arnold said, still not getting it.
"Well, man, think about it. Helga has picked on you for what? 6? 7 years now?" Gerald asked.
"7. but what about it?" Arnold said.
"Man, maybe she likes you. Think about it. The saying. Her picking on you." Gerald said.
Arnold was quiet for a few mintues. Thinking it over.
"Nah, she couldn't, could she?" Arnold asked.
"Well, it kinda fits." Gerald said.
"hmm.. look, let's do this clue thing tomorrow. I gotta go eat. Later, Arnold." Gerald said as he walked out Arnold's room.
"Later Gerald." Arnold said.
With that, Arnold got ready for bed, he wasn't hungry at all and it was already 9:30, so with nothing else to do but think and sleep.
*I guess he's right. Better tomorrow than now. Though, i admit it doesn't seem like Helga could possible like me like me. She hates me." Arnold thought, as he tried out the light and went to sleep.
