I'm afraid I don't have anything constructive to say, I'm terrible at explaining why I like something, but this is a very good story and I hope to read the next chapter soon.

Holy...DAMN, THAT WAS GOOD!
Lady, I read this story, and I seriously couldn't stop reading. I was practically frantic to find the Next Chapter button at the end of chapter nine...Kiss of Fire? Gotta read that one now. If that story's anything like this one, I know it'll be good.
Don't stop writing! These are WAY too good to just be unfinished! =(

Woohoo! Update! :) I like how Katara doesn't make it easy for Zuko...that is, she doesn't forgive him right away, but still leaves it a possibility. Nice :)The imagery was particularly beautiful.

Before I get into the meat of the review, I think I should mention that I began reading “Kiss Of Fire” before this story, so perhaps my expectations were a little misplaced.
Since this is supposed to be a prequel to KoF, I had expected it to deal with the beginning of Katara and Zuko’s relationship and end shortly after the Battle Of Sozin (is it supposed to be Sozin the Fire Lord or Sozun the city; I’m confused) and Katara’s death, while KoF dealt with her reincarnation. In this respect I was disappointed since it doesn’t really convince me that Zuko and Katara would ever have the intense relationship detailed in KoF. The story just doesn’t get that far and makes it seem like Katara would be unlikely to ever trust Zuko again, regardless of his intentions. It’s possible this relationship would form sometime in the 4 remaining months before the Battle Of Sozin, but I was expecting it to happen during the story.
What I did get was a simply AU story where Zuko and Iroh join the Aang Gang instead of remaining separate. This part was done very well; characterizations were accurate and the new scenes were plausible alternated to those in the actual show. I loved the stuff with Toph and Zuko (earthbending, her showing up at the teashop, etc). In fact, this felt more like a Zutoph(?)/Kataang story than a Zutara one. Hopefully, you won’t be offended by that statement because none was intended. Zutoph is a pairing you don’t see very often and one I didn’t even consider from the normal show canon, but the scenes Toph and Zuko share in this story make me believe it could happen in that universe.
The only other thing I should mention is that Azula did not strike Iroh with lightning; she used a small blue-flame blast. The only person she actually hit with lightning was Aang in “Crossroads of Destiny”. A small nitpick that didn’t affect my opinion of the story at all.
Overall, this is a very well written AU Avatar story. It has a very intelligent and authentic feel to it. However, for me, it’s better if it is kept separate from “Kiss Of Fire” because it feels unfinished otherwise (unless it is??).
++++/5
