Oh man I love this story. Its not too often you get a dark ATLA story written so well. I really hope you continue this, I just love your take on the effect Katara has over Aang and when he goes into his Avatar state. This grittier version is a very enjoyable read.

Your characterization has been spot on as far as I'm concerned, considering the situations the characters are in. I was stupid, and started reading this before checking to see when your last update was... Did you ever finish the story? Sounds like you had things well planned out.. You've said it yourself, there are far too few stories with the CANON pairing, and far fewer GOOD ones. If you have written any more, please get in touch with me via e-mail! I'd love to read the rest.
